I took my cat there to get a diagnosis since he developed 2 mysterious bumps on his back. The vet basically felt the bumps and said, "Hmmm I've never felt anything like these before...they're squishier than normal." Squishier? That was the professional diagnosis of my cat's potentially cancerous bumps? If I wanted more information than that, I could have researched them on the internet - like maybe they are abscesses, cysts, or hematoma? I tried probing for more answers out of her and she basically told me that I could either get them removed or not. $135 bucks later and I still know nothing about my poor kitty's ailment. My boyfriend has taken our dog there multiple times to get her ear infections taken care of and she's still sick. None of the medication they have prescribed has worked and it's been going on for over a year. Never going there again.

Love the staff! I also use the boarding service when I need to leave town. Great Place never a problem.

Having been 15 year clients of GAH, we recently had our sick dog there for a visit with Dr. Alexis Mayer. After $240 for the first visit and 4 medications, then an additional $70 for a 5th medication (none of which helped the dog) we decided on a second opinion. We discovered that our dog had PINK EYE. GAH did not address this, loaded the dog with unnecessary medications, referred us to Opthalmology after our insistence that his eyes were getting worse despite what she prescribed and finished her sentence with "I wouldn't wait to take him to the specialist - he could go blind". Dr. Mayer blatantly misdiagnosed my dog and he suffered for almost a week at which point we thought we might have to put him down if he did indeed lose his eyesight. When I talked with Dr. Rieder, he of course sided with Dr. Mayer and refused us a full refund. Bottom line - stay away from GLENOLDEN ANIMAL HOSPITAL. The vets are incompetent, the staff is RUDE and their prices are through the roof.

I began going to Glenolden Animal Hospital on the recommendation of a Rescue. Their prices are reasonable (compared to others I've been to) and their staff spectacular. From the desk staff to the Vet, they are all compasionate and respectful. I have taken my guinea pigs there, and the staff has been very accomodating (with appointments) and honest with me (about diagnosing, treatments, etc.). The Vet involved me from the beginning, not only telling me what's going on but discussing with me & including me in decisions along the way. Furthermore, the Vet (Dr. Alison St. John) has called to follow-up to see how my one sick guinea pig was doing. It feels great to have the backing of an Animal Hospital that cares about your animals as much as you do. Also, on the finance side, they give you estimates prior to any treatments, so you aren't shocked and awed afterwards and they work with you to decide on the best treatements for your pet, both for the pet and financially. They don't seem to want to do unneccessary procedures or poke/prode the pet, if they don't have to. In fact, they'd rather not. They have great hours too. All in all, I highly recommend the Glenolden Animal Hospital and Dr. Alison St. John.
