We have been serviced by the Johnstown Veterinary Associates for the past two years by Dr. Assad. Our dog has been treated efficiently and professionally on all occasions. Our contacts have been regular check-ups as well as emergency calls. The staff and Drs. were quick to answer questions on the phone to assist in our dogs medical needs, along with a consultation from the vet as needed. They have managed everything from our dog eating an "overdose" of chocolate ...interdigital cysts...to weight management. We recommend Dr. Assad highly. He shows our dog a friendly bedside manner, while sharing concerns or calming fears in a professional way. Their office hours are conducive to evenings as well as Saturdays for those that work.
Shakira is my 3 year old baby. I was desperate. She had been puking and with diarreah for days. After taking her to another vet in hooversville where I always had taken her, he told me to wait for the worse because her pancreas had probably exploded and she needed inmediate surgery which he could not offer. I called every vet around ( somerset, johnstown, altoona, ebensburg...) All I wanted was someone to say bring Shakira over!! But instead they were all saying " im sorry, you are not our patient, the soonest appointment is not until 3 weeks"... This office was the only that realized how desperate I was, they at least gave me hope and told me to call at 8 am to see if they could take me, and they did!! No money asked, no checks, no nothing. I went straight to the vet who run a couple test and realized there was no pancreas exploded inside Shakira. She had eaten some wild animal poop and caught and infection. After a week on medication my baby came back to be the playfull pig that she had always been, who eats all you give her without turning you down and wants to play 24/7 I own this people Shakira's life, and my happiness. They were the only one that took me in. My other option was Pittsburgh with a starting price tag of $700 I paid here $80 for everything.
Compassion - My Lab had been a patient of Johnstown Veterinary for many years. In all of that time I never once had an issue with getting him in if he encountered an unexpected illness or if it was for a regular check up. I found the staff to be genuinely concerned in my dogs well-being. Sadly, at age 13 I had to put him down due to hip degeration. Dr. Assad was incredibly compassionate to not only my animal, but to me as he understood the pain and heartache I was going through having to say "goodbye" to my long time companion. I will always be grateful for the kind words and understanding he showed to my family on this profoundly sad day. Should I ever decide to bring another dog into my life, there would be no question as to who I would trust his/her care to.
D. Assad diagnosed my cocker with cushings disease 2 years ago and put her on Lysrodren and she was back to normal. She turned 13 in May and 2 weeks ago she got a cancerous tumor in her throat and had to be put down. Dr. Assad-Dr. Kenavell and his staff were so compassionate and helpful the day I had to to end her life.I cann't say enough kind things about them. In 10 years, I never had to wait to get her in for an office call.
I have had multiple issues with this clinic, ie: mistakes on common procedures, misdiagnoses, missed findings on standard physicals...and every time I pick up my animals they smell like urine! I will NEVER take my animals back to this clinic!!!
