Well, what can I say. The vet was very thorough by testing my Great Dane for all kinds of things and found to have Lyme Disease. She was started on Amoxi at $125 a pop. The Lyme symptoms returned twice within the same year and two more doses of Amoxi. My old girl has been healthy as a hoarse for 9 years, getting a 3+ walk each day. The last thing I wanted was for her to be sick 3 x's a year with Lyme, which affects the bones horribly amongst other symptoms, so I took her for a second opinion. From what I was told by this new vet (amongst other patients) is that the antibiotic that is ALWAYS given to treat the Lyme (all of the Lyme strains) is Doxy-Cycl HYC. Amoxicillin only wipes out one strain, if that. I did like his assistant very much, however, after $500+ and giving her the wrong antibiotic. Also, I observed a few dogs getting the Lyme vaccine. My new vet advised against it stating that it only prevents one type of Lyme strain so it's basically a waste of money. I will not be returning to Mountain Top.

WORST, HEARTLESS!! My dog was experiencing difficulty breathing due to heart condition. I went to the “hospital” and waited for the doors to open at 8am (this is my regular vet), by this time my dog was limp and needed to be carried in. They refused to see my dog to go to the animal hospital in Plains. I asked for directions and they threw a pamphlet at me and said they didn’t know. By the time I reached the hospital, my dog had passed. Terrible to know he suffered his last minutes. I requested to speak to the owner; they called me specially to tell me the vet wasn’t in until 8:30 (they lied and said vet was in surgery) and would have probably died anyhow. Who can tell is this is true, but ZERO compassion. Aside from this, are always booked and decreased their hours. Very few other vets in mountain top but I would NEVER return. My biggest regret is trusting them as my regular vet. Any vet office that would turn away a dying pet should get out of the business.
