the staff was kind and accomidating and were able to get my sick guy in there in a timely fashion. i apreciated that the dr clearly cared about my pet and his well being. the prices were also affordable. $50 to see him and probably another $50 in meds. not awful. i will definately come back
Dr. McKinstry, and Linda, and the entire staff took wonderful care of our beloved Himalayan cat Mia for many years, all the way to the end. We feel so fortunate that Cat Vet was always there for our friend thru all this time. Thanks!
Dr. McKinstry is so caring, as is her staff. They make the waiting room comfortable, with Sebastian the cat and Tootsie the brown lab. Sometimes the wait is quite long, but once you meet with the Dr. you understand why. They aren't quick to prescribe medicine and definitely are cost sensitive. I consider myself very lucky to live near such a great resource!
I love the doctor, the receptionist, and the staff. They have helped me so much by treating me and my cat so well. I just had her put down after a long illness and I have nothing but good things to say about how skilled and caring they are. They always explained everything to me and had my cat's best interests in mind. I have been gouged by the VCA at Rittenhouse to the point of tears--they were trying to charge me $800 to diagnose urinary crystals which the Cat Vet treated with a simple office visit and an inexpensive medicine. During my cat's end of life, the Cat Vet knew who I was every time I called, and took such wonderful care of us.
My cat was in terrible pain with a urinary blockage. After spending a night at UPenn's Vet Hospital we brought him to the Cat Vet believing that they would be able to take care of him at a lower cost than UPenn's insane prices. When we got there the vet told us that what she "usually does" is remove the urinary catheter and "watch him like a hawk," even though UPenn specifically told us it should stay in for at least 48 hours as he passes the crystalized urine. After taking him to the back and actually looking at him she brought him out in his carrier saying that there was no way for her to treat him and that he needed to be hospitalized do to his kidney function results. She then preceded to name a bunch of places we could take him, all of whom we called in her waiting room and all said they couldn't take him. She then told us that if cost was really a problem we could go with the original plan of taking out the catheter and hoping for the best. I then said that we would do the best thing for him no matter the cost to which she said, "just don't put him down." We couldn't believe it.
