The vet was nice, seemed to know what he was talking about. I didn't wait too long and was in and out. My only problem was the lack of transparency in pricing the veterinary services. I called in and asked for a checkup fee. $45 for a cat. Ok. Fine. Made an appointment. After about a 5-10 minute checkup, I was charged $65. Why? The ultraviolet light to check for ringworm, $10. Kinda pricey to shine a lamp over a cat for a few seconds, but I requested this service, so I'll swallow it. $5 for cutting my cats nails. First, the vet sounded more like he was doing me a favor by cutting my cat's nails and didn't mention anything about charging me. I was surprised because my dog's vet (who is of course a different vet), didn't charge for such a thing for a regular checkup. But the price was the same as what they would charge at a petsmart - I let it go. Last, they added on the price to check for ear mites -$5. The vet looked in my cat's ear for 2 seconds... I could have told him that my cat doesn't have ear mites. Also, WHY isn't this price for checking the car (for ear mites), included in the overall $45 fee? Unfortunately, I was so shocked from being bombarded with prices that were not given to me before the vet performed these specialized services (sarcasm), I just walked out of there and promised to not come back. I'll just drive a little farther to go to my dog's vet. This is a nice place, if you don't have other options. Just make sure you demand them up front about the prices before you get in there, and make sure you tell them that you don't want extra things done (even if at the time they perform the services, you assume that they'll be complementary because that makes sense, because they will charge you for every single thing). ::EDIT:: I just received a call from Kim, the office manager for Cottman Animal Hospital. She had read my review, reviewed my chart, and also found a mistake in the pricing and made sure to contact me immediately. She has reimbursed me for the ear mite check fee, and the lamp fee was only $5 as opposed to $10. I think the professionalism displayed at this veterinary clinic is top notch. Of course, I still had a problem that the prices weren't announced before-hand, but I'm afraid that this is a common practice among many veterinarians. This is the best veterinarian I have ever used. The staff is awesome. Their pricing is very reasonable. This is the only vet I have ever been to that I was surprised at how low my bill was. I recommend them to everyone.

Gave Cottman Animal Hospital 5 stars, that should tell you what I think of this place. Dr. Joo is my dog's regular vet and I am always pleased with the care my Rocky receives. Once, Rocky got a nasty "hang nail," of course it was bleeding. I showed up 5 minutes after closing. Was taken immediately and treatment was given in a superior manor. I wish I could find a medical doctor who gave such good care.

compassionate vet and good prices

I have used Dr. Joo for almost 20 years for my cats. He is compassionate and a true animal lover. His staff has always been very courteous and accommodating. I would highly recommend Dr. Joo and Cottman Animal Hospital.
