Dr. Norton killed my cat! Don't let this happen to you..... My cat had been recently diagnosed with diabetes. I was told to take him to a private vet who could do a glucose curve. I called Dr. Rude's on Frankford Ave and spoke with Dr. Norton. She explained she didn't do full glucose curves because she found they weren't necessary ( a glucose curve is a 12 to 24 hour test, comprised of drawing blood before and after meals to follow glucose levels and then prescribe the insulin dosage), she did a limited testing. My husband brought the cat to her office for his appointment where his urine was tested (but not his blood). He was prescribed insulin which he was given after his meals. The first 2 days he seemed to be doing better, but by Sunday he was dead from hypoglycemia. Dr. Norton tried to blame his death on the insulin, it being new to the market, etc.....the fact remains that she NEVER drew blood and got a glucose level before prescribing an insulin dose. If your pet is diagnosed with diabetes PLEASE be sure the vet you are using is capable of dealing with the disease. We didn't even have enough time to educate ourselves about the disease before we lost our companion......
