Five reviews. Three of them 5 stars and two of them (including mine) one star. That's seventeen divided by five which equals 3.4. Yet Google gives them a 4.2. Good work Google. Maybe you should try hiring someone who passed third grade arithmetic. Beware of Dr. Zaruskie. I took in a cat having seizures as an emergency appointment. I had told the receptionist that the cat was ‘staggering’. Seeing that the cat was overdue for rabies vaccine (and, I assume, hearing that the cat was ‘staggering’), Dr. Zaruskie insisted that the cat had rabies and should be euthanized. When I disagreed, she left in a huff, saying she would contact the state health department and let them, in her words, 'take care of it'. She refused, absolutely refused, to even look at, much less examine, this sick, dying animal. I walked out with the cat, made another appt. for that evening with another vet. But the cat died quietly in his carrier an hour later. I took the cat back. An exam of the cat’s head at PA Dept. of Agriculture showed negative for rabies. I usually avoided Dr. Zaruskie, having serious doubts from previous appointments as to her competence, but this was an emergency. She never even looked at the cat, never asked me about symptoms. No more Willow Creek. If you go there, I advise you to ask for someone else. By the way, Willow Creek website says she studied veterinary medicine at St. George’s. It’s in Grenada. Draw your own conclusions.
We adopted a puppy back in November of 2012, and did a lot of research on veterinarians. The vet we had taken my family's dog to as a child had sort of rubbed us the wrong way, and I wanted to make sure we did it right this time. Well, we did/are doing it right. I actually found Willow Creek by searching the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association, and we found Dr. Jamie Moran's name. She is wonderful! (We've seen other doctors there, and they all are excellent, too! Most of our experience is with Dr. Moran, though.) Dr. Moran is very thorough, explains things well to those of us who are new to the lingo, and lets us know all of our options, and explains her reasoning for her recommendations rather than just "I'm the Doctor, that's why." (Which I have heard before from a vet, and other types of doctors.) Also, when giving an injection to our puppy, she flings a few cookies on the table to distract him with something to chase and eat while she does it, and he doesn't even notice. All of the nurses, vet techs, and support staff stop to pet him. The receptionists know his name (even if we don't have an appointment for them to refer to). Even the place where we board him for vacations were happy to hear were were taking him to Willow Creek. That really says something. So, we are and will be repeat customers. These folks are awesome. Take your pet to them, and you will not be disappointed.
I took in a cat having seizures as an emergency appointment. Seeing on the chart that the cat was overdue for rabies vaccine, absolutely refusing to even look at the cat, and without asking me any questions whatsoever about symptoms, Dr. Zaruskie loudly (and in my opinion, almost hysterically) insisted that the cat had rabies and should be euthanized. When I disagreed, she left in a huff, saying she would contact the state health department and let them, in her words, 'take care of it'. I asked the receptionist if another vet could look at the cat but was told that she was busy with other appointments. I walked out with my pet, but did make another appt. for that evening with another vet. She never looked at the cat, never asked me about symptoms. My opinion is that there is something seriously wrong with this woman, that goes far beyond what I see as her callousness toward a sick, dying animal. No more Willow Creek. And the fact that she is employed there tells me all I need to know about Dr. Lucena, the new owner. If you go there, I advise you to ask for someone else.Willow Creek website says she studied veterinary medicine at St. George’s. It’s in Grenada. Draw your own conclusions.
I transferred here after being very disappointed with another vet in the area. Willow Creek is great about not recommending procedures that aren't really necessary and not charging doctor fees when a much cheaper technician can give a vaccination or other shot. Only vet in the area I know of that offers acupuncture. While my dog is a dog and not my reason for living, when he was suffering and it was a choice of trying acupuncture or putting him down, I had to opt for the acupuncture. Made a world of difference in him! A day after the treatment, the dog who--only the day before--couldn't get up the steps, was dancing on his back legs when he greeted me in the morning. I highly recommend Willow Creek--they're the best!
NEVER go here. I took my cat to get "spayed" and then upon a return phonecall was told he was an already neutered male cat and was opened up for the surgery prior to this finding. Prior to this appointment he had been taken there to see if he was male or female and the vet confirmed he was a she and had not yet been spayed thus requiring the surgery. I would NOT recommend going here!
