NEVER take your pet here. The only thing this place cares about is YOUR MONEY. After spending 12 of 15 minutes of our visit talking about "the wellness plan", the two technicians left the room to prepare my paperwork for payment, only after I insisted they attend to my pet and we'd work out the payment later. So as they were preparing the paperwork, I collected my cat in the carrier and walked out. I told the technician that we were living and when she asked why I point blank told her that I felt she spent more time trying to sell their product than actually attend to my pet. Her response? "I'm sorry you feel that way. We're just trying to determine the best course of action for your pet." No, lady. "You're just trying to determine the best course of action to get the most money out of my pocket and into yours". I was charged $40.95 for my visit and left.
DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE!! This place is all about their money and that is it! My dog was having some trouble getting up and down, something with her hips. The vet assistant came in and of course starting pushing their "healthcare plan for pets", but other than that she was great with my dog. She checked all the usual things (ears, mouth, breathing, etc.) and my dog was perfectly fine, licking her in the face and all. Then she left and the vet came in, she did not seem like a very nice person from the second she walked in the door, and my dog noticed it too. When she stuck her hand down my dog ran behind my legs and laid on the floor, then she tried to check the same things the other girl just checked but my dog didn't want her anywhere near her so she paged the other girl back in who then asked her what she wanted to do and the vet started complaining about my dog not letting her do anything. She was extremely rude and did not seem to care at all about my dog. All they did after that was shove a Q-tip down her ear, and left both hind legs up one at a time. They said they were going to do a physical exam where they stretched her out and poked at her to see where she was having pain then they left the room. When they came back in they started rambling off all these things they were going to do, they wanted to sedate her to give her the rabies vaccine, do x-rays, test her for lime disease and another 12 diseases (no exaggeration), take blood, and the list continued. I asked why they needed to test for all the diseases and she said because it could be something making her dizzy (when I had clearly told her at least 5 times that you could tell she was in pain with her back legs/hips). My dog just turned 2, she is a very active dog, and is only outside when she goes to the bathroom or is playing but is inside all the time and kept very clean. There is absolutely no reason why they needed to do all of those tests at once, especially when they hadn't even looked at her physically yet!! Obviously I did not allow them to do that and took my dog to our usual vet when we could get in and she did a physical exam and prescribed an anti-inflammatory and some joint supplements. Since then my baby is back to normal, running around and being the crazy dog that she is. A similar situation happened to my mother with her dog's foot. They do not care about your pet they just want to figure out how many tests they can order and make you pay for, FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON!! Being a manager of a store I do not usually give bad reviews because I know how it can affect the employee but this woman deserves it, she is a HORRIBLE vet and should be fired because Washington is a small town and I know I will tell every friend I have that has animals to not ever go to this place. It honestly sickens me that someone who is supposed to care about animals could be so greedy....FIRE HER!!!!!
Do not take your pet here. They only care about your money. They don't know the animal, and they don't take time to get to know them. And if they ask me one more time if I want a wellness plan, I will scream. Am currently in the process of finding another vet.
If you want your experience at the vets office to feel like nothing more than a timeshare scam, then by all means, take you pet there. But, just to warn you, they have no interest in your pet, or you, if you do not opt to spend hundreds of dollars every year on services your pet many never need in its entire life. I have never left a vet so angry and dissatisfied in my life.
This vet is located within the Strabane Square PetSmart, conveniently just under a mile from my home. I first began taking my pets here after a very bad experience with an emergency vet 40 mile away. At 3am my cat had just jumped up on my (low, platform) bed and meowed quietly in my face, which woke me up -- she was wobbly, twitchy, and not quite right. Several hours later I arrived home having just paid $150 for my cat to get a botched, choppy shave job, a bloody neck, and not even the blood profile that was the whole point of it all. In other words, I got nothing, no new information, no diagnostic testing, no treatment. (They said "every time we got the needle close to her neck, she jumped" -- these people are supposed to be able to handle giant Rottweilers and they can't handle my docile, 7lb ball of fluff?) I decided I would take my cat in to Banfield when they opened that morning, seeing as they took walk-ins and the only other vet clinics I knew wouldn't be able to take me on an immediate basis. So I toted her in, along with her brother who was due for his vaccines that month (save a trip). They told me I might have a five minute wait for a doctor but it wasn't even two (I was counting, sick cat and all). Every staff member, top to bottom, treated me kindly & courteously the whole way through. They explained everything without talking down to me. (Experienced pet owners who also don't have PhDs in the area will know that is a hard line to walk.) I was allowed to be in the room with my cat at all times (which I wasn't at the EV -- so she went through that trauma without me even in the same room). They handled the cats with care and experience. And the exams were free. Seriously. It's a PLEASURE to take my animals here (though I know the animals beg to differ!) and I've never had that kind of experience with a vet. I thought I'd get half-hearted service with a retail shootoff, but no -- better than any vet I've ever used, and I've been around the country. Outstanding. Thanks so much to the staff. (And my kitties are well, thanks :))
