My dog has PTSD from a home invasion we went through when she was just a pup. Spirit was badly wounded and I was left for dead. In Povar everyone is really understanding and Dr. Jee-Yon Pyun treats Spirit like I treat Spirit. She went in for surgery last week and the doctor was so thoughtful she saw her nails a lil long and cut them for her while she was under. I have so much trouble cutting her nails. THANK YOU
First - notice how some of the negative reviews are written in the poorest of English... so those probably aren't legit. anyways, I have been taking my dog there for a while now, and the entire staff of receptionists and doctors have been great. Any issue I have had with my dog has been dealt with efficiently and cheaply. I like the overall approach that they have based on the severity of the situation, either decisive action or wait and see. My dog is older, and has had a variety of untreated problems over the years, but when I got her and brought her to the vet - problems solved, without spending a fortune on "exploratory surgeries". thank you Povar.
My pets received EXCEPTIONAL care at Povar Animal hospital. I have one cat and two dogs – one dog has chronic issues. I ended up seeing Ceri Sveilich most often (again EXCEPTIONAL) but each veterinarian and staff member was great. They treated animals and people professionally and courteously. And you could tell they all love animals! They looked for the cause of problems, offered treatments and explained how invasive each option would be. They also informed you of the cost of each treatment prior to treatment. All costs seemed reasonable. They went above and beyond to collaborate with experts and emergency care. Even routine appointments (shots, grooming etc..) were thorough. I have been too other vet clinics (in VT,CT, NYC) – and the care and knowledge at Povar Animal hospital is top rate.
I have been taking my dog to Dr. Povar and his staff since I got her two years ago. I am an inexperienced pet owner. This is the first dog that I've owned apart from my family. Dr. Povar has provided essential knowledge and ongoing guidance for me to be a good pet owner. Based on my experience, he is a good vet! and his staff generally loves and connects with animals. The other vets/technicians on staff aren't necessarily as adept with procedures as Dr. Povar, but what they lack in experience they make up for with authentic concern for the care of animals. This is a clean, attractive facility and the staff is efficent concerning appointments, postcards, keeping up to date on any needs concerning your pet. In addition to boarding and grooming services, they offer the frills such as free treats, nice play areas separated for cats and dogs, a photo of your pet on all related documents and medication for the animal. Due to this, the procedures, checkups and medication is always on the higher end of cost. They offer the higher priced item and don't typically suggested a more cost efficient option. Each and every service is itemized and nothing is ever provided in a bundle or without cost. They don't offer specials, promotional items or even samples (unless you ask, and then they are tightfisted with the samples they will give). So if you like the frills and money is not an issue, I would say your pet is in very good hands here... But it will cost you.
I had been looking around for somewhere to bring my cat for a while and decided to give povar a chance. I was not at all happy with the level of service that they provided. The receptionists were not pleasant at all. Since I was a first time customer they asked me to take my cat out of her cage so they could take a picture. Now this would have been okay if it was not in front of the reception desk with a line of customers behind me with various other animals. My cat was scared half to death and clawed my chest apart because of the dog behind me in line. Then I get in to see the vet and he was the rudest doctor. I had a few questions for him and he acted as though I was an idiot, sighing under his breath and rolling his eyes. I WILL NOT be going back.
