I went to Dr. Groover for my 5lb. chihuahua's persistent cough. The techs there had told me they would give her an xray to check her out, and stated no meds would be necessary, they "hold her" while the xray was taken. I get there at the designated time, see Dr. Groover and nothing is as they said. He was a pompous jerk, quoted a fee three times what the techs had quoted, got right in my personal space as he went on a ridiculous demonstration of how heart valves work and was just an arrogant moron, treating me as if I didn't know a thing about dogs or how to take care of them. He then stated he would not charge me a consult fee since "my techs told you something different". He was really pushing for me to leave her (when I was told I could wait while they did the xray), come back hours later and charge me hundreds of dollars. He also had an ultrasound machine, but "no one knows how to operate it". The ultrasound would be the best image maker, but he has no one to operate it. Nice. I told the clerk what he said, she looked at me like I was on fire, didn't believe a word I said, Dr. Groover comes out and then acts like he never said he'd waive the fee and acted like I was ripping HIM off. DO NOT LET THIS MAN TOUCH YOUR PET. He only cares about how much he can charge you, he is so full of himself he is repulsive and his techs tell you something different than what the reality is. I cannot emphasize enough what a repugnant attitude Dr. Groover had, how dismissive he was of me and my dog and how all he wanted to do was charge massive fees. I will never go there again. I left a review like this before, that has mysteriously disappeared. BEWARE, PET OWNERS, STAY AWAY FROM THIS JERK.

As long as you see Dr. Charlie Timmerman or Dr. Kim Smart you will be in good hands. Dr. Charles Groover however should never be seen if you have a pet with unusual growths or a serious condition. His "wait and see" attitude led my dogs mammary tumor spread to her lymph nodes. When a biopsy was done she had stage 2 adenocarcinoma. Not only did he ignore me when I told him the growth was getting larger, he ignored a new growth that appeared on her anal sac. This was also removed by another vet and was in fact cancer. Pets owners know when something is wrong. It is his job to take their concerns very seriously. He brushed us off completely. Because I trusted him I lost very valuable time with my dog. Had he addressed the mammary tumor when we first came to him it would not have spread to her lymph nodes. He is a kind man and does seem to love animals but I would not suggest he see your pet if they have a potentially dangerous illness.

We wish to thank Dr. Charles Groover for the kindness and compassion he showed for the several years he treated our pets. After a long period of ill health, we had to put down our beloved pet of fourteen years and Dr Groover did everything possible to give us more time with our pet without him going through immense pain and suffering. We will continue to have our pets taken care of by Aiken Veterinarian Clinic and specifically request Dr Groover.
