Dr. Patick's clinic was recommended with glowing reviews by a friend. Now, I understand that on Saturday it is a busy day, and I can expect to wait. I get to the clinic before 8am, and the waiting room is packed. I have my cat in a carrier and go up to the reception desk, where I am asked, "What sort of dog do you have?"" I answer, that my pet is a cat and the receptionist looks at me like I am crazy. So, this clinic doesn't advertise itself as a dog only clinic, but somehow, I am CRAZY for having a cat as a pet and bringing him in on a Saturday morning. Next, I sit in the waiting room where an unaltered Boxer dog named "Rambo" tries unceremoniously to chew through my cats 'travel crate, while the owner tells me all about how this dog loves to kill neighborhood cats for sport. Lovely.. ..But there's more, I am ushered into an exam room where the practicing veterinarian looks to be about 85 years old and touches my cat only perfunctoricly while I explain to him that he needs his vaccinations, and has had some health issues in the past year but seems to be recovering. He spends about 2 seconds doing an exam for which I was charged, and then a vet tech does his injections. I realize they were busy, but really, the Veterinarian couldn't have given a "flying flip"" about my pet. They didn't have all the injections that were available to me at other clinics, and truely, I had the impression that if I had a cat as a pet, it was because I was some second class citizen." ..So after my horrible experience I tell my friend about the whole visit.(you know, the one who gave the glowing reviews) ....she says," Ooh, no, you shouldn't have taken your cat there; I'm sorry, I should have told you, that's really a dog place." Well, I have a dog, and I also have a cat, but I would never, ever go there again.

We have been taking our dogs to Patrick Vet Clinic for years and would't think of going anywhere else. The vets in this clinic are in the business because they love what they do. They are very very reasonably priced unlike other vets in the Charleston area. We have never been rushed by the vets - they always answers all of our questions and have years of experience to draw on. If you're looking for a posh atmosphere and short wait times - go somewhere else....and pay for it!

I switched to Patrick Veterinary Clinic from another local clinic because of their free visits, and I could not have been happier with this decision. The vets are always knowledgable, friendly, personable, and extremely considerate. Also, the vets made sure to tell me the price of all procedures and medications before moving forward, and always took the time to explain the proposed procedures and alternatives. Dr. Burch especially went above and beyond with her level of care, ensuring that my cat received the necessary care while I was out of state, and made sure to update me on his progress. She was always incredibly friendly and understanding, and very knowledgable. I could not have had a better experience at this clinic.

Dr. Patrick has been our "family's" vet since I was a kid. He's taken great care of all the animals that have come into and out of our lives. He's taken care of every new puppy through our doors and has even been there when we lost a beloved furbaby in his waiting room. Dr. Patrick is one of a kind -There's really no other like him! His staff is just as warm and knowledgeable and have been with him about as long as I've been seeing him. There's a wait if you don't want to drop your dog off, but its always worth it. Thank you Dr. Patrick - our family thinks your pretty amazing!

I've been to Patrick Veterinary Clinic twice in the past year. I went there to have two of my cats put to sleep. They were 17 years old and 15 years old. The older one had renal issues and the younger one had a broken hip from a fall. The vet was very kind (he gives the option of going back with your pet or not) and it was very affordable. No appointment was necessary and that was great for me because I was relying on others for transportation at the time and I had no way to know if I would be able to get to an appointment on time. I opted to have my pets cremated and the crematorium they used sent me a lovely little certificate with my pets' names on it to remember them by. I would definitely recommend this vet.
