We took our dog in for minor surgery (according to the doctors at Banfield) and she was unable to walk for 48 hours afterwards. The incision was amateurish and communication/assistance post-op was informal and almost non-existant. We were forced to return to Banfield 5 times total after this procedure either to have the wound cleaned to prevent infection, to have sutures checked because they were spaced too far apart (allowing the wound to open), or to have sutures properly removed after they failed to do so the first time. We will not be back except to squeeze money out of the Wellness plan that is paid for and non-refundable. I wouldn't recommend ever going to this Banfield, but if you do for some reason, do not sign onto one of their Wellness plans. You're locked in for a year by contract regardless of whether or not you use the services, and there are no refunds. I've heard from others that other Banfield locations are great, and I'm sure they are, but this one is an exception.
This place is way overpriced and the staff (front desk and doctors) are very rude. Do not take your pet here. Find a smaller local place to take your pet.
Do not take your pet here. They do not make sound medical decisions and are unethical. I took my 5month old puppy to Banfield after I found her chewing on the top of a womens shaving razor (with the razor part that can pop out missing). After explaining the situation, I agreed to a $150 x-ray. The vet explained she found the razor in her stomach and took me back to show me the x-ray. At the time, I questioned her, explaining that I didn't think she knew what she was looking for, since she never actually heard my explanation before she looked at the x-ray nor saw what I found my puppy chewing on. She assured me that it was metal, and the razor blade and my dog needed to go into emergency surgery. $1000 later and a lot of tears and anxiety, I got a call that my puppy was out of surgery, and in fact there was no razor blade in her stomach, not a single piece of metal. She claimed it was a small piece of dense plastic, but there is no documentation even on that. Why I believe they are unethical is that I have filed a complaint through Banfield, with the complaint routing within the woodruff rd Banfield. I talked to the head vet explaining that I was not given an option with the surgery and that a number of errors on their end contributed to my puppy having unnecessary surgery. They would not concede on the fact that their vet made a mistake, only that she had "poor bedside manner" nor the amount of money I had to pay. She even told me that it was best not to file on the website and call them directly if I had an issue (obviously to avoid documenting claims with corporate). As someone else said, I have used Banfield in Ohio and they were great. This Banfield is not. Unfortunately, I have a wellness plan with Banfield, so now I have to figure out what to do, but I will be letting vets at the Woodruff Rd Banfield see my puppy again.
I have had positive experiences with Banfield in other cities where I have lived in the past but I care too much for my pets to take them back to the Banfield in Greenville. I got the full pressure speech about purchasing a Wellness plan for one of my dogs who has recurring issues so I felt it might be the best option financially for me. They did not remind of regular visits as they promised and it is impossible to schedule with them. They keep insisting I should use their drop off service. I have no interest in leaving my dog in a strange place frightened while they try to work her in. I also do not live close to the Banfield location so it is not convenient for me to drive back and forth all day to accommodate their schedule when I am the customer. I am now completely frustrated because I have paid for over a year of this Wellness plan and don't see that it helped me at all but cost me much more than it would have cost just to pay full price on the one visit I was able to get her in. I do not recommend the Banfield in Greenville, SC at all. Horrible experience for me.
Was told that I could walk in till 11am, got there 15 minutes before 11am and stood in line for 10 minutes with only one person ahead of me. Soon after I signed in for service they came to me and asked if I would leave my animal and would come pick him up later. They said other wise I would be waiting for an hour... I waited for a while and started smelling urine in his crate so was worried my pet was very uncomfortable waiting in his crate and asked again what time they thought it would take...they said I still had 3 other patents ahead of me so probably another hour or so... so I left my animal with them so he would have a place to go to the bathroom and get out of his crate. I was told if I wrote down what time I wanted to pick up my animal at that they would have him ready...which as also indicated on the paper work I filled out. I wrote down a specific time and also told the person that was taking care of me what time I wanted to pick up my animal a few times and made sure they would have him ready, they said yes he would be ready as long as I specified on the paper work. I came back (which was highly inconvenient as it was) at the specified time and he still was not seen, they told me that there was a miscommunication and that they were going to call me when the animal was ready...that is NOT what I was told, and I did ask multiple times to make sure I was hearing them right about the pick up time (since they seemed very unorganized), but I wasn't about to embarrass myself with an argument about that, I was already embarrassed about how frustrated I was just for my pet to be seen by a vet. So ridiculous. THEN, they told me it was going to be another hour (with my 2 young children with me)...I got a call from the vet. about 30 min. later saying I needed to sign a form of consent for tests to be done. Then the vet said I could come and pick up my pet in a couple hours, I told her this was already my 2nd time down and it was getting ridiculous, so she then said it would be another 20 min and they would call me. I called in 30 min. and a person at the desk told me my pet hadn't been seen, so I expressed my frustration... I then spoke with the vet who said my pet had been done for a few minutes now. I went in spoke with the vet and the intern...the intern told me I would need to come for 2 follow up visits that would cost 24$ each...when I paid my cost for the visit, tests, and treatment the woman who rung me out told me the follow up in 3 days would be included in the cost...when my husband went back for the follow up they charged him 27$ and said they always charge 27$(not what I was told by the intern or by the woman that rang me out)...he told them that I was told the follow up would be included in the cost, they said it was not...so to say the least it was very confusing and frustrating. While I liked the vet...I feel the service is horrible and seems like everyone has different information and bad communication not only with customers but with each other...I am very frustrated with their service to say the least.
