The first kitten I brought to the VCA had an upper respiratory problem. I paid about $120 for first exam and meds. When the first people who come in before the vet took her temperature rectally, they left the thermometer in the sink, unwashed, so that by the time the actual veterinarian entered, the entire room smelled like pungent cat anus. It was disgusting. I also requested an estimate on how much a spay and declaw would cost for when she would be old enough to get that done. They quoted me at over a thousand dollars!! I decided that I would be better off just getting her spayed at the Humane Society. The reason I took a second kitten there was for convenience; I only live a mile from the VCA. And the kitten obviously has worms(huge pot belly), so I needed that fixed asap. I got there on time, 5 mins early actually. The woman behind the desk was clearly making a personal phone call, but got to checking me in and showed me to an exam room. I waited for an entire hour. No one came in the entire time. I ended up leaving, absolutely infuriated. Turns out, they didn't even know I was there! I scheduled an appointment with another vet, despite an offer for a free exam after I left. It just doesn't seem worth it to ever come back here again. I value prompt service and I don't like to feel like a business is trying to take my wallet for a ride. I recommend going somewhere else.
Can't beat 24/7 availability. (Emergencies rarely happen during business hours) The staff is amazing. KNowledgable, courteous and listens to owner concerns.
If you’re looking for CORPORATE BUSINESS APPROACH to veterinary care then, this is the place for you. Building is new but, rooms and exam tables are always FILTHY with dirt and hair. They PUSH medication and food they carry and will give a major attitude if you request otherwise. What they do dispense for medication is NOT in manufacturer bottling rather, its re-bottled and labeled from VCA (Obviously ordered in bulk to maximize profit yet, there is NO INSERT with information, side effects and warnings given with the medication they dispense.) Wouldn’t the Veterinarian caring for your pet find that important information for you to have? The manufacturer does and pharmacies do. The COST of medication, supplements and vitamins is DOUBLE what you can find online at accredited websites like California Pet Pharmacy and Vet Source. Flea and heart worm products are locally half price of VCA at Coastline Pet Supply on 707. They PUSH TESTING for everything, I mean everything. Can’t check your pet’s ears without an ear scraping at over $100. Can’t give antibiotic without blood work over $100. Everything has to be blood work, put under a microscope or x-rayed; it’s all about the dollar. Then, they DON'T even CALL you with the test results. Be prepared to have to go retrieve results yourself and good luck getting any answers or return phone call. It takes several phone calls for medications to be refilled then, you will be made to feel like you are a burden. DR. BISHOP who is the Medical Director at VCA will take it upon herself to intervene on your pets medical care and test results. She is not helpful rather; she is the RUDEST and most EGOTISTICAL doctor I’ve ever dealt with. She will make assumptions and generalizations on blood work without knowing your pet or their medical history. If you are looking for a caring, empathic, honest veterinary care then, you will want to GO ELSEWHERE. I have dealt with VCA for years, paid out thousands of dollars and have been very patient and forgiving but, my last dealing with their antics is the last straw. My pets are like my CHILDREN and they DESERVE quality care without feeling like a burden or breaking the bank.
Excellent staff at the front desk and the doctors and and techs are wonderful. Every person cares about each individual pet and someone always follows up on the pet's care. Wait time is very reasonable. Also, service is available 24 hours, which is not only convenient, but great to have in case of an emergency.
I have a good experience with this vet clinic. The doctor was very informative and helpful. I also like they don't try to sell anything to you like I've experienced in other clinic. People are really nice and polite. So yeah, I recommend this place.
