My family and I have been clients at Catawba Animal Clinic for the last 27years. For about the last 12 of those years my pets have seen only Dr. John Mazur unless there is an emergency. I spent time out in California about 8yrs ago and had a very sick pup while I was there. Dr. Mazur spent a great deal of time with me on the phone trying to help the best way he could from 3,000mi away and make me feel better. He was even able to advise me to hold off on a VERY expensive test (MRI) that the vet in San Diego felt was completely necessary since I would be home in Rock Hill soon for him to see her himself. When I returned to Rock Hill, he was one of the first people I saw so he could thoroughly evaluate my pup. As it turned out, he was correct and the test was an unnecessary amount of money to spend and she lived out the last years of her life (another 7) a very happy and loved pup. When I married my husband and moved to Mooresville, NC, I still remained a loyal CAC client. I had to commute an hour each way, but the care given by Dr. Mazur is worth it (even with the gas prices of today). We are now back in Rock Hill, but would continue to be a CAC client even if I did still live an hour away. The care and compassion of Dr. Mazur and all his partners with pets and their owners goes way above and beyond anywhere else I have ever taken my pets out of necessity during an emergency situation when I was traveling and living in Mooresville. They also do their best to get you scheduled as soon as possible with the vet of your choice, but will do their absolute best to fit you in if you can't wait. You could not go wrong with any doctor in this group, but Dr. Mazur holds a special place in my heart and that of my family!

We moved from NC to SC and the dogs ran out of revolution. I took them to this vet and asked to get them setup. The vet refused without a heartworm test and I said ok. I waited around 15 minutes, the tests came out clear, the vet was charging an arm and a leg for the drug so I purchased a single dose for each dog and headed off home, planning to buy subsequent doses from an online pet med supply company. Almost a month later and it's time for a new dose. I placed the order and two days later Catawba Animal Clinic called me to say they'd been asked for a prescription and were going to refuse as the vet had not examined my dogs. I asked how exactly they had no problem selling it to me themselves to which they said they would find out. After 10 minutes on hold they come back to me telling me it was an oversight, they broke the law and they are sorry but they're not willing to approve a second dose until I bring my dog in and pay for a vet exam. I understand a law is a law and I'm not asking them to break it but to be given this news almost a month after I had already brought my dog in. If you need an exam to prescribe my dog drugs you do it while I'm asking you and my dog is in your office. I figure if they can't get something as simple as this right, then what chances do my dogs have if they ever get ill. Time to find a new vet.

I started taking my first basset hound to Catawba Animal Clinic after 2 years of other vet practices not being able to diagnose my dog's problem. Dr Bert Platt examined her and said "I have a pretty good idea of what's going on with her, but let's do some tests to confirm". My Lady had Lupus! After the correct diagnosis and medications her health and energy level improved. Lupus can't be cured but it was controlled more and gave Lady a better quality of life. Over the next 12 or so years I adopted 2 more senior needs rescue basset hounds and each was treated with great success and care at CAC. When the end of life issues came my dogs ,and myself the hysterical doggie mom, were treated with compassion. Currently I have 2 dogs both seeing either Dr Buckley or Dr Mazur. I'm again facing end of life issues with one of my girls and I know when the time comes the staff at CAC will be there to help us both. My dogs have their baths and nail trims at Camp Catawba and also board there on the rare occasion I have to away from home. Both dogs pull me into the office and can't wait to get there. The staff knows them on sight and spoils them. I highly recommend this practice to anyone not satisfied with their current vet and especially if your pet has a medical issue that you feel isn't being addressed.

I started going to Catawba as an overflow to our vet in Fort Mill. We could never get into him, so we started to just call Catawba. Dr. Privette is the vet that we usually use, but we have seen others also. In the past two years, we have had one diagnosed with cancer, one have eye surgery, one have to have a sock removed from his intestinal track. We have lost 2 sweet girls (Bullmastiffs), saved one boy, and added a new girl. There is not another vet office that I would go to. They have treated us with the utmost compassion. We have had vet's go back after hours to check on our dogs and call us to let us know that they were doing well. We have received calls from on-call vet's during our issues. They had to put down our one lady, and they were so wonderful about it. When I called to cancel an appointment because our other one had to be put down at an after hours clinic, I received a call from the vet who had been speaking to me the night before and guiding us. They care about their clients. Their office staff know my animals, and they love them too. I don't think that you could ask for a practice that care more about the animals and their people. I know that they will make recommendations and help me to make an informed decision with regards to my pets care. Love them all!

I called Catawba Animal Clinic while in a full tilt panic after having been told by a reputable vet in Charlotte that my dogs were having issues that were really going to cost a ton of money to address. I was desperate to determine what was wrong and to find pain relieving solutions that I could actually afford quickly. That initial call for a price comparison was horribly embarrassing to make, but now that all the issues have been dealt with, I'm so proud of myself for making it. Dr. White met me on a Saturday morning with tears in my eyes about my little Desilou that was wasting away and had grown a scary looking bump on her arm. They tested the bump and put her on some medicine. The bump isn't cancerous and can be easily removed and the medicine has her feeling back to her usually happy self. Then a week later I brought my older dog, Barley in to discuss her liver and having her teeth cleaned under anesthesia and also to take off a big bump that had rapidly appeared on her head. I made the conscious choice to not have any children; these two dogs are my babies and to watch them age is frightening. The last thing I needed was a vet that spent a lot of time scaring me and making me feel hopeless... I got more than enough of that in Charlotte. Catawba Animal Hospital has truly helped me and my girls. I was able to pay for their services in full. I wasn't ever looking for a charity or a handout; I was simply looking for knowledgeable people that treat animal ailments for a reasonable price and that is EXACTLY what I found with Catawba Animal Clinic. I can't recommend them enough!! :-)
