affordable to start. The staff was amazing very helpful. They were extremely informative.
My cat is an established patient at Westbury, and due to complications during my cat's delivery I was told to come in by her Vet techs and arrived first thing in the morning. I was VERY disappointed when my cat was presented with an emergency situation which required surgery and the vet told me "they did not have time for my animal today, they were running short on staff, and I should take my cat to the Emergency Vet in North Charleston". The vet blew me off and told me to go elsewhere because she didn't want to have to stay late to deliver my cat's kittens via C-section. This was after racking up a 200 dollar bill from Westbury of course, for an xray and exam. She wanted me to leave with my cat in active labor, and take my cat 30 minutes away so that she did not have to stay late or run behind. Then to boot, they ended up pulling the first kitten out after I insisted that they do something, and did not let me be with my cat, and then did not tell me that they cut the placenta and LEFT it inside my cat. I found out only later, after my cat had it on the kitchen floor, that Westbury left it inside. A retained Placenta can kill an animal. I am an established responsible breeder of show quality animals and I am looking for a new vet because of this. It seems Westbury wants you to come in for every sniffle so they can charge you the 40 dollar visit fee, but if you have a true emergency they are too busy with their sniffle patients to see your pet that is in life or death situation. I reccomend taking your pet elsewhere. I have years of experience with vets and this place is not it. In a situation where a normal vet would call in a prescription, Westbury requires that you bring in your pet so they can get the "cha ching" by seeing your pet for 30 seconds, and giving you something they could have given you over the phone to try first and avoid the expense and visit fee, for nonemergency services. Every other vet I have had will call in a prescription for an established paying patient.
This is the best vet we've ever used. Everyone on the staff is friendly and loves pets. They've gone above and beyond on numerous occasions. When we had to have one of our dogs put to sleep they sent us the bill in the mail so we would not have to worry about that detail while dealing with the loss of our dog. They have also been willing to stay open a little later when I was running late to stop by to pick up emergency meds. Their boarding is also top notch!
Today is Sunday, and this past Friday, my Chihuahua, Lillie, got electrocuted chewing on a freezer cord. I paniced, and called our vet, who I learned left early for the day 3 hours before they actuallyclose, other vets in my area they were due to close within the hour said they wouldnt be able to stay past closing to do anything, Then I called Westberry, and begged them to please see my poor pooch. Dr. Miller agreed to stay, they saw my pup and not only did they go above and beyond for Lille, but have also called everyday since to check in on her. Saturday I took her back to them and Dr. Greathouse got Lillie the meds she needed and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THESE VETS. They actually care about animals.
My family moved to Summerville about 5 years ago. When we needed a vet in the area I called 2 previous vets and they both recommended Westbury, as did the vet of a friend who lived in Mt Pleasant. I said to myself 3 for 3 guess that's where I'm going, and where I have taken my pets ever sense. I had the pleasure of meeting the Dr's Haynes within my first few visits and Dr Greathouse and Dr Miller as time went on. I found them and their staff all very knowledgeable and very easy to deal with. I have since met many other friends in the area who also use them and I have sent many to them and do so with no reservations. They are great vets and a wonderful caring staff.....you'll love them!!
