I took my 6 month old pomeranian (Lacey) at the same time my mother took her 8 month old miniature schnauzer (Elvis). Price was well worth it! Lacey and Elvis recovered quickly and without complications. My mother and I both purchased post-op pain meds (just in case) and were only around $6 extra. Well worth it and so glad I discovered this hidden gem! My other vet was going to charge me $400 just for one dog!
We have had all of our pets spayed and neutered here. The staff has always been great with them. Love this place, and sooo thankful for it!!!
Please be careful and consider getting your animal fixed somewhere that isn't high volume. Also, don't take any chances and fix an animal in heat (she wasn't in heat when we brought her there, went into heat before surgery and they didn't call to see if we wanted to cancel, just did it), or that may have underlying issues that you may not know about. Get them checked first and get a clean bill of health. Even if it means waiting longer to get them fixed, it's better than ending up losing them... I lost the love of my life, my Lulu today due to complications from surgery. They still are not sure what happened, but if your animals shows signs that something is wrong, BELIEVE YOUR GUT. Don't just think it's normal. For future reference, these are the signs she exhibited. The first day, she was lethargic, and her belly was caved in pretty bad. She wouldn't move, drink, eat, or try to go to the bathroom, just slept. She also felt cold to the touch, but I just wasnt sure. I kept trying to force water down but she just wasn't having it... She was like this for 2 more days and I assumed it was normal and from the pain killers and anesthesia. Suddenly, I found her hiding in the closet, and knew that that was her getting ready to die... I found her breathing rapidly with her face in the carpet, unable to move with pee on her belly, and rushed her to the hospital. She was about 92 degrees, dehydrated, hypovolemic, and I think she was going into shock, but they couldnt give me a straight answer. Gave me antibiotics and we went home to wait to go back to Wally's in the morning and I kept her warm and stayed up with her all night. She never stopped breathing rapidly, and I could suddenly hear what sounded like fluid as she breathed in and out. She'd struggle to even purr (she'd purr every time I told her she was beautiful, it was her favorite thing to hear...). She started drinking water and I thought that was a good sign. She kept trying to leave and hide though and I just knew what that meant... I kept her near me and kept her warm. She randomly jumped at one point and kicked out her legs, and I knew she wasn't capable of doing so, so it was a spasm or a slight seizure I think. She then sat her head up randomly and started swirling her head, as though she was drunk, or following something swirling with her eyes. Was very strange. I assume from the lowered temp or possible seizure, blood loss, what have you mightve caused brain damage and made her do that... We took her to Wally's but they didn't have a way to x-ray so we had to rush to Riverview. She started yowling in the backseat of the car, and I've never heard her meow before... She then made a choking sound while we were racing to get to the vet. As I ran her in, I could see she wasn't moving anymore and that she coughed up blood... They did everything they could but she was gone... I just hope someone will see this and it'll help in the future... Please don't let Lulu's death be in vain. If you see any symptoms that make you even slightly worried, even if it says online it's normal, GO. Maybe if they had her sooner, it would've been different... I love you so much Lulu. You are SO beautiful... I'm so sorry... Also, if you think your cat has a problem, DON'T bring your cat to RIVER emergency vet unless you have atleast 1200-2000 dollars, or can get approved for Care Credit... Even if it's an absolute emergency and everyone else is closed... They won't do anything... Don't bring them to Wally's Friends because they'll tell you they don't have the means to do anything and will send you to Riverview animal hospital. Just head straight there.
Wally's Friends was careful with my dog and gave me advice that conveyed that they have plenty of empathy for your pet's experience in the facility and afterward. Thank you for providing this low-cost service in a caring manner.
Look, this is a nonprofit, low cost clinic. If you go in expecting to be treated like a high end, over priced, sell you everything you'll never need for your pet vet's office you are at the wrong place. Chattanooga is fortunate to have Wally's. They provide a very important community service. I've taken two dogs and yes, it can get hectic, and the wait can be long. Still, if you cant afford $400 to neuter your dog Wally's is a life saver. Literally in some cases. If you are too spoiled to wait in a line go elsewhere. That'll make more room for people and animals that really need it.
