After trying out 3 other vet clinics in town, I can tell you Upper Cumberland is the BEST. They are very knowledgeable, they honestly care about your pets, and they treat you with respect. I've never had to wait more than 10-15 min for my appointment, and they have already saved the lives of 2 of my pets. Although I have to drive 10 extra min to get there, I will never take my pets anywhere else again. UPDATE: It is 3 years since I wrote my last review, and I felt I just HAD to come in and post an update. I am beyond amazed at the care this vet clinic has for every patient. Even when they are booked solid, they always find a way to squeeze you in if you have an urgent situation. You may have to wait a little longer (up to an hour or so), but they treat you with the same courtesy - and spend the same amount of time with your pet - as if you had scheduled an appointment days in advance. The more I visit this vet clinic, the more thrilled I am that I found them!
I adopted a dog from the local animal shelter and in the adoption fee was a spay/neuter so my father and I scheduled the spay/neuter for January 2. My father took her for her spay (her name is Ila) and AFTER they had already performed the surgery they called him to inform him that she was not only pregnant but was almost full term! They KILLED a litter of puppies AND put my dog's life in danger instead of picking up the phone and calling us to let us make a decision. They claim it was their "protocol" and that the shelter wouldn't pay for diagnostic tests, but if they had called US the OWNERS of the dog we would NEVER have gone through with the spay. It could have waited a few months especially since there wasn't a chance she could get pregnant again at our home. On top of MURDERING our puppies they then proceeded to charge us for a rabies shot and worm medicine! But not any pain medicine for Ila. I will NEVER take any animal back there and I am going to spread the word about their IMMORAL and MURDEROUS protocol!
We moved to the area 2 years ago with a diabetic cat. We tried another vet, but didn't have much luck. We moved to Dr. Summer Bristol at Upper Cumberland, and it saved our cat's life. When he went into insulin shock at 6:00 pm on a Sunday evening, she met us at the clinic and treated him. We adopted a dog from a shelter in Crossville, and he came with a severe separation anxiety problem. Dr. Bristol prescribed an anxiety medication that he took for about a year, but the price skyrocketed. She changed him to a pheromone collar that is working very well. Dr. Bristol is caring and diligent. She always calls days after appointments to check how the animals are doing.
Awesome staff, awesome doctors, they've taken awesome care of my labs! We thought we had lost one today, but got there and found out that she had a infection in her uterus. They care so much about the animals and I'll continue to drive 35 minutes, even in emergencies to take my animals to them. When my lab pup was diagnosed with no sockets, they sent her xrays to UT animal hospital and tried to get me the very best care I could for her. I work at a large medical office and 3/4th's of our staff drive the drive to take their animals to this clinic!!!
Terrific place, highly recommend. They saved my dog's life and continue to care for all my pets.
