I took my new 9 week old Yorkie in on a Saturday night because she had diarrhea and throwing up. She was week and pitiful. When I got there they took me on back it was not busy. The tech came in and took vitals and did a sugar test and a parvo test. The sugar was low and parvo was negative. The vet finally came in and before she even looked at the puppy she said they needed to keep her and it would be between $1900 and $2500. They gave her fluids and sent me home with antibiotics. On Sunday morning the puppy was worse when I awoke. She was unresponsive. I rushed her back up there. They put me in a room and told me it would be awhile they had an emergency. I waited and finally the vet came in and said she need to be admitted and given fluids, x-ray and blood work. I was so upset with her being so sick I agreed. They took her back and I went out front to pay. This time it was $1180 to $1850 for her. I wrote a check out and gave to the girl at the desk. The first words out of her mouth were we can’t take a check from someone that lives in Loudon County. She said they only took checks if you live in Knox County. They made me feel like white trash at this point. So I took my puppy home got in touch with my regular vet. After a long sleepless night taking care of the pup I took her to the regular vet which did a stool sample and found out what was wrong (unlike the emergency clinic). She gave her the correct antibiotic and after the first dose she was feeling much better. If you have a sick pet and live in Loudon County you better have a pocket full of money or a credit card otherwise you won’t be seen. I will not go back! I was told this was the owners policy.
I took my 15 year old dog to this place late one night. He had been fighting several medical issues and got to the point where he was in so much pain nothing could relieve him, not even several pain pills. I was desperate and decided it was time for him to be put down and took him to the Animal Emergency Critical Care center rather than wait until he could be put down by his regular vet. They insisted on sedating him before I could see him. He was anxious and in severe pain and I could see and here the staff in the back who kept screaming at him and being rough with him. They treated him like a vicious stray dog rather than someone's pet that had been adored for the past 15 years. I was already emotional and this made the situation much worse. I was so angry and upset when I left that words cannot describe. Although the Vet. was pleasant, the other staff were horrific and should not be working in this field. This was a totally different experience than I received with one of our other pets at our own vet. Our vet started the IV in the room with me and he was allowed to go peacefully. I would never take my pet to this place again.
We are so impressed with this facility! Our 9 year old female dachshund was in desperate need of medical attention for two impacted disc over the Thanksgiving holiday in 2013. We took her in on Saturday, November 30th and the surgeon on staff scheduled her for surgery on Sunday, December 30th. Her recovery has been remarkable and we are very grateful to the surgeon for his expertise. The staff is top notch and the facility is immaculate!
I would never, ever, take my pet to this terrible place. I don't normally write reviews like this, but I feel that this clinic put my dog in severe danger. I took my dog in the middle of the night because he was choking on a bone and had coughed for nearly 3 hours. After waiting in the waiting room (in the middle of the night), they saw him for five minutes and said he would be fine and sent us on our way.. with a $100 bill. We are now 3 days later, and my dog is still choking all night. He is miserable and scared for his life. I called back, and they were extremely rude and would not even give advice on saving my dogs life without a payout. If you care for your pet, please do not put them in danger by leaving them to the hands of these careless people.
For us this place has been wonderful and we are happy such facility exists. Our dog was extremely sick with an auto-immune disease and internal bleeding. When out of options, our regular vet sent us to see Dr. Rutherford who is specialized in internal medicine. The dog spent 3 nights in the hospital and we were allowed to visit with him for many hours during the day and night. Everybody was very nice and kind to us and the dog. The doctor met with us at least once a day and spent a significant amount of time explaining test results and treatment plans. In addition to being a great veterinarian he is such a compassionate person. It was a very difficult time for our family during the dog’s illness and everybody at the clinic shared our sadness while he was sick and our happiness when he finally started to respond to the treatment. Words cannot express our gratitude to Dr. Rutherford and his staff for saving our little dog. I would give them 10 stars if available.
