I'm glad to see that so many people have had positive experiences at Countryside Animal Hospital. I regret to say that our experience was far the opposite. On May 24th, 2014, we took our dog to the clinic because she was having difficulty in labor. She had given birth to two puppies naturally, but had been stalled on the third for several hours. I will preface the rest of this review with the fact that the staff was extremely friendly throughout the visit. X-rays were taken. Oxytocin was administered to induce contractions. The doctor left us alone with our girl and went about his business. We sat with her for a couple of hours, as she continued to struggle. Dr. Parsley came back in to check on her and we had a conversation about the situation. In a nutshell, we were told that if she hadn't had her puppies by the following afternoon, that an emergency C section should be performed, but, because it was Memorial Day weekend, that the procedure would run $2500.00. Next, he gave her a much larger dose of oxytocin and sent us home with her. I got the feeling by his words and the price we were given, that he had plans and did not want to perform this procedure. After getting home, we did more research and found that our dog's labor was already well past the recommended safe limit. So, we called another clinic that was recommended to us by a friend. By this time, it was 9:00pm on Saturday night. This vet had us meet him immediately at the clinic. When we arrived, two vets and two techs were awaiting us. They immediately performed the procedure and, I'm happy to say that Roxy had a total of 7 healthy puppies. The people at the second hospital sincerely cared for the well-being of our dog and put her ahead of their weekend plans. The total price of the procedure was less than 1/4 of the price quoted by Dr Parsley. I understand that this may seem like an excessively negative review, but we were making a life and death decision for our dog and puppies, based on the information given to us by this doctor. First, if we had followed his statement about waiting until the next afternoon, Roxy and 5 puppies would most likely not be here today. Puppy number three was sideways in the birth canal and was not coming out. Second, we do not have the financial means to pay $2500.00 for the procedure. If we had not talked to another vet, we would have decided it was to expensive and had to just hope for the best, which would have had a bad outcome. I would have preferred that the man had simply told us to go elsewhere because he didn't want to do it. We are very thankful that we didn't make a devastating choice due to poor information and inflated pricing..
Our dog had to have a cyst removed and turns out it was way worse than the doctor or we thought it would be. Actually attached to her uterine wall. However, Dr. Parsley was awesome to say the least. We had complications after with excessive swelling etc. and I have never felt so taken care of. I only wish it was this way when I went to my own doctor. Dr. Day and Gillman also had to see my dog during this event. They were all over the top wonderful. Staff was outstanding every time I called or came in. They let me wait in car since dog was under so much stress and came out and got me for visits. They even offered to keep her when she was pretty bad and cost very little. You can not beat the prices for the care you get. The computer system they use to keep track of every single thing is remarkable. It itemizes everything done while in there and even if you leave pet. Doctors all seem to talk to each other about cases so each time I went in if Dr. Parsley was busy and I had to see Dr. Day, she was in the loop. Nothing to say but GREAT PLACE!!
This place is great to me and my pets. I tell everyone to bring their pets here as, they truly make it easy to hVe your pet seen with affordable care.
Dr. Parsley and Cathy have both gone out of their way to offer service far and above what you have come to expect from a veterinary hospital. Noodles, our Black Lab mix from the animal shelter, well he has a bad habit of eating things he shouldn't. Noodles swallowed a rock too big to pass. I called Dr. Parsley and Cathy on the afterhours number and told him that Noodles was sick. Without hesitation he said he would meet us at the office within 30 minutes. Oh, did I mention this was on Easter Sunday? Noodles got x-rayed; the blockage was found and removed within an hour of our initial call. Sad to say but Noodles did it again about a year later and Countryside once again saved his most irritating neck. Driving to the doctor’s office 9-12-12 I saw a little dog lying in the road. Obviously hit by a car. I thought poor little dog. Then I saw the little dog raise it's head so I had to stop. I couldn't find the owner so I took him to Countryside. Dr. Parsley immediately started treatment on the little dog and Cathy and her team located the owner. Hopefully the little dog "Luna" will be OK. I once went to another Veterinarian office that I won't name, located on Mt Juliet Rd near the post office. The treatment there I can sum up in one word "Hostile". Seriously, you could not ask for any better service than that offered at Countryside and I highly reccomend them, even if you do live a distance away it is worth the drive. These are good caring people that care about what they do. I will not go anywhere else. Kevin Egan, Lebanon, TN 9-13-12
