I brought my 25 yo blue and gold macaw, Astro, to them because I was concerned she was egg binding. From the moment I walked in the whole staff was friendly and welcoming and were doing everything they could to make Astro feel comfortable including giving her treats. After a short exam they were able to determine her problem (which was not egg binding) and recommended a new diet and after giving me a bunch of samples and allowing me to purchase the food directly from them, I was on my way. Definitely recommend to anyone in the Nashville area, the main vet has great expertise and even has a cockatiel of her own at the vet.
Dr. Ray is an excellent, very knowledgeable, very diligent and hard working professional. As both an employee and a client, I can easily say that Dr. Ray knows what she is talking about when it comes to these cute little guys (or not so little guys). She would gladly take hours explaining everything you would ever need to know about your exotic pet, if that is what you needed. And as an employer, she has always been very fair and understanding about things that happen outside of work. But she will always make sure that the workplace stays professional and well maintained. For the amount of time I have been working under Dr. Ray, I have never seen anything that would EVER make me feel like I am in an unsafe work environment. She is very protective of her employees and makes sure we always have everything we could need to do our job. I highly recommend Dr. Ray to anyone with an exotic pet and will continue to for as long as she is in practice (which will be a very long time!).
I run a local rabbit rescue and have been exceedingly happy with the services provided by Dr. Ray. I highly recommend her! There have been times when she has met us after hours to provide medical attention to our rabbits when most vets are closed. Regardless of the negative remarks listed on some comments below, Dr. Ray is a very informed professional that's very good at her work.
We love Avian and Exotics Center of Nashville. Dr. Ray is knowledgeable and caring. After we adopted an overweight cockatiel for my son, she made sure that we understood the care he needed in order to return to a healthy weight. After six months, she was very pleased with the bird's progress and took the time to reassure my son that he was a good and responsible pet owner. That might not seem like a salient point to some people, but she remembered that my son was nervous about owning a pet after the death of his parakeet (mea culpa) and those few moments of praise made all the difference to him. We are currently in the process of moving and I hope that we can find an avian vet as good as Dr. Ray.
Excellent service, no problems at all.
