WORST PLACE. Needed a rabies shot for my dog, the lady at the front desk said it would be cheaper to pay for a month of the plan and get the shot for free. She forgot to mention she was signing up me up for another year. She also didn't verify a credit card and tried to charge my mom's account. Now they are saying I owe them for the wellness plan I didn't sign up for or want again. They could not show me a document I signed to renew the plan. Left messages for the manager and you never receive a call back. I understand there may have been a communication error, they should take responsibility for their workers mistakes.
My husband and I are really happy with the service we receive at Banfield. We take our 2 dogs and 3 cats there. We don't wait too long to see a doctor when we arrive, and the majority of the staff is very personable and great with our pets (especially the vet techs and front desk folks). The price for an office visit is less than surrounding vet's offices, and definitely less than our old vet in Nashville. The only qualm I really have is we don't always see the same doctor, so in the case of our cat with a chronic condition, we sometimes have to catch the other doctor up on what's going on. Otherwise, the experience has been great. TIP: if you have a pet needing a dental cleaning, buy the wellness plan for that year - it will be cheaper than paying for the cleaning outright. We don't buy the wellness plans otherwise.
We have transplanted with 2 Mastiffs and 2 Main Coon cats. Ultimately, we are the ones responsible for our families health. Banfield's policy is to offer all the options when emergency care is needed. We are the ones that know our companions the best, and must speak for them The care we receive here is better, and certainly cheaper then the clinic I have (not Banfield) across the road. The health plan has saved us a lot of money for regular maintenance products, and the thorough exams are primarily preventative. The only issue I have is remembering to order joint or internal meds at least one week before I run out. The clinic lets me decide when I need to order, it's not automatic.
Bad service + expensive....... I took both of my dogs to this Banfield for about a year, we used Banfields for years here in Tennessee and were a loyal customer on the wellness plans but over time the service at Banfields really lagged. At the Smyrna office there were many occasions when we had appointments, arrived and waited over 30 minutes in a waiting room to see a vet. There were other times when I dropped my dogs off at the time of my appointment first thing in the morning and when I called over 5 hours later I was told they hadn't even seen my dogs yet, they had in fact been locked up all day. Had I of known that I wouldn't have dropped them off until later. The last visit to this vet was about 2 weeks ago, I went in to get rabies shots for my 2 dogs, we had an appointment, arrived and were put into a waiting room. After about 15 minutes an employee came in and briefly talked to us then put on an ad on the monitor and left the room. We waited there for approx one hour without anyone else coming into the room and finally decided to leave. I am not going to sit for over an hour ignored when I'm about to spend over $100 ($55 per pet I was quoted). I went out to the main desk area and the receptionist lady was inside where the medicines are laughing with another employee. She saw me and came out of the door and asked if I was all done and ready to check out, I told her no one had seen us yet. Her response was "yeah there was an emergency and they said it will probably be another 15 minutes before they can see you."..... I'm fine with emergencies, but what I am NOT fine with is being put into a waiting room and ignored. If there's an emergency then this employee who has time to chat with another employee, laughing at something has time to come and let me know sometime over that hour period "we are running behind, it will be a little longer." Or here's a thought, rather then running Ad's on your computer monitors, put some sort of updates so customers can see the estimated time until we'll be seen. But no, they just expected me to sit there wasting my time. I will say, if it was a bad emergency and all employees were in the back handling the situation then ok, but these two employees were obviously not "busy" when I walked out, and the one knew it was going to be another 15 minutes at least so why didn't she let me know that? I'm over Banfield, this hospital offers good service when you can get it, but this last scenario it was so bad I didn't even get any service. Fortunately my wellness plans just expired and I set them to not auto renew so I have since found a vet in Mount Juliet which I now take my dogs too and they seem happier. At Banfield my small dog had to have a muzzle on every time a vet touched her. And this new place she is happy as can be which I can't explain but it is a lot less stressful for her and that's all that matters. Plus it's a lot cheaper, I paid $39 total for rabies shots for both of my dogs at the new vet, Banfield was charging me $110 ($55 per pet). I think I'll go with the place that has customer service and lower prices. We will not be going back to Banfield ever. I'd also like to make one comment about the "photos" on google for this Banfield. I'm not sure why they are using stock photos. It seems like they could use REAL photos of this location, it's staff, it's waiting areas instead of canned graphics. It just bugs me these aren't photos of this location.
Read Whitney's review below. I had a similar experience. Their services do seem over-dramatic, which costs you more, and I feel they take advantage of you since it is your beloved pet. They're inside of a Retail Store!! They're supposed to make money!! I've had several experiences with them, and I always walk away thinking I've paid more than I should. Here's the point of my review. I had two cat's exposed to the same amount of K9 Advantix, which can be lethal. I took one to Banfield. I had an initial treatment plan of $85-111. The final bill 4 hours later, which included $60 worth of "hospitalization" charges and a $115 blood work test thet I didn't pre-approve was ......... $292.56! My initial treatment plan had tripled! I was told my cat would receive a "chemical bath" to wash off the toxins. I paid $30 for the "chemical bath" only to find out later it was Dawn Liquid Detergent. Moving on.....the second cat I took to a local vet. They kept him for 8 hours, pumped him with fluids to drain the toxins, said the $50 worth of medicine Banfield prescribed was unnecessary, and sent me home with a bill of $40.50. After complaining to Banfield, they agreed (after threatening litigation) to refund me the Blood work test of $115 I never consented to. I believe Banfield has good intentions, but I also believe their bottom line is more important than your pet.
