I just got back from there and m so DISGUSTED by what happened. It says very clearly it's an EMERGENCY clinic for small animals. My cat Hershey has been DEATHLY ill as of late and I decided enough was enough. It's 5am over here and I rush him way out of town to the so called 'emergency' and arrive at about 6-6:30 at the clinic. What I was told is that they were going to close in about an hour while my cat is clearly in distress meowing and moaning and breathing all hard. I'm not only stressed to the max and emotionally spent, but the receptionist basically said they could do almost nothing. So I wait about an hour for HOPE Veterinary Clinic to open which is way out of the beaten path. I admit him IMMEDIATELY at 8am and was greeted very warmly. I told them it was indeed an emergency and that my cat had been so sick he could hardly move and they IMMEDIATELY put him as a priority and began running tests on him. Got blood work, sugar check, temp check and various other tests. Got a heating pad thrown on him because he was nearly comatose. He is right now in the capable hands of vet doctors who showed very openly and up-front that they cared deeply and even considered how stressed out we all were. They warned me it was probably pancreatitis because of the high sugar and thickness of his blood and immediately began giving him treatment. There are not enough 4-letter words in the general human language to describe what I thought of the other clinic. They just acted as if, oh well, just a cat. Nevermind the possibility I raised him from a baby and love him more than my next breath. Nevermind the fact that I took their website serious enough to rush at 80mph to get there because my cat was DEATHLY sick. Nevermind the fact that I was willing to pay extra to save my little honey boy. They told me they'd give him a general check-up but I was going to have to go to another vet a few hours later anyways. My cat DID NOT have hours to spare! He was nearly dead at the Hope Clinic when I arrived! Hope clinic graciously opened the doors early because the situation was so dire and I immediately filled out the paper work and he was back there getting tested and fixed up! Another thing that makes me so PISSED OFF is that there was NO PAYMENT PLAN at the Emergency Small Animal clinic, but at the Hope Clinic they give you the option of withheld checks, credit card, or even cold cash. The staff was friendly but stern and the background noise was a bit hard to deal with, but it just showed further more that they're willing to ignore the small stuff to get things done. WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A VET EVER!
Absolutely ridiculous! After taking my animal to another Vet, I found out that this small animal emergency clinic and Dr. Blaylock did nothing to really help my dog and charged me over $700. They will take advantage of you just because you love your animals and that is absolutely wrong. Please do not use this place, they are a danger to animals and they will want your first born for payment.........
If you have a sick pet and wonder whether you should take your pet here, please don't hesitate. Yes, it's pricey but well worth it, in my opinion. They literally saved my diabetic cat three different times when he was hypoglycemic, which WILL result in seizures, a coma and death. I have dealt with three or four different vets and as quite a few staff members, and they were all very compassionate and attentive. I always got the feeling that they REALLY cared about him. Amarillo is lucky to have this facility. Private vets don't see animals after working hours and we need somewhere to go.
Sorry people this place is horrible. I had the money just forgot my wallet. my dog was injured and i rushed to the clinic. they wouldnt see my baby. so i had to rush and get my wallet but it was too late. so i guess these great reviews are for the people who had money......i did but it didnt matter they wanted it up front. screw it that my dog was dying.
The receptionist was really great. It is pricey at $90 a visit, but I don't think unreasonable for a place that is open when all other vets are closed. They got my dog in and out in a timely manner with a good diagnosis. High price, but well worth it in the end.
