I have a rat who has needed multiple trips to the vet including treatment of porphyrin around the eyes and tumor removal. I have seen Dr. Blatt for all treatments. I love the staff here who always make me feel welcome and they seem genuinely interested in my rat's well being. Dr. Blatt has been nothing but kind and informative. He does not have the warmest demeanor, but don't let this put you off. He has done a fantastic job caring for my pet. One reviewer commented that he seems to only be in the business for the money, but this has not been my experience. All treatments have been reasonably priced and multiple times he has waived the fee for check up appointments and follow ups. I am very happy for the service I have received and will continue to use Feather and Fur.

We love Dr. Julie Newman. We have taken our dogs to Feather and Fur for years. We have also take a couple foster dogs and rescues to see her while they were in our care. We like Dr. Newman's bedside manner, she gets down to business but is still very warm and personable. She is very down to earth and practical and at the same time understands the strong emotional bond we have with our animals. Dr. Newman is clearly an experienced and educated professional that stays current. She always explains things thoroughly, gives us all the options, as well as given us her personal recommendations, so we can make informed decisions about our animals health and welfare. ♥ All the staff are super sweet and nice to all the animals. They all seem like true animal lovers who take care of their patients as their own. ♥ DENTAL BONUS: Also, we found them to be a great value regarding teeth cleaning for our dogs, while it's never cheap, it was considerably less here than at other clinics we had used in the past.

I have a big ole Rottweiler and we have been taking her here ever since we moved to Austin. The Doctors have always done a great job with Chloe and the staff is very attentive and friendly. My dog seems to respond better with Dr. Newman, who is great. We have also seen Dr. Blatt more than a few times. If you are looking for someone to really help you understand all of the details as to what is going on with your pet, then Dr. Blatt is your guy :-)

I took my 10 year old, 65lb dog in here on a Saturday in May 2011, I was in the middle of trying to find a new vet....I had y been seeing a vet up in Pville, very far from my house. My dog had a swollen abdomen. We saw Dr. Blatt, he treated her for stomach upset, and didnt want to do an xray, when I requested it...he said, well I can make this cost a whole lot if you want, but protocol says to treat this for a stomach upset. My dog had not been eating for the last 3 days, was noticeable thin, except her abdomen was swollen. $275, some metronidazole and cerenia....My pup didn't do well on the metro...she seemed to get dizzy, I called an emergency vet on Sunday they said to stop the metro and go back to the vet on Monday. When I called feather and fur on Monday morning right when they opened, they didnt seem to think it sounded serious and told me they didnt have appts, and after I pushed them...they "found" a 2:00 apt for me. UGH I realized I couldn't trust their care and called another vet who told me that sounded like an emergency and referred me to the VCA clinic at Manchaca and Slaughter, who took me right away. Xrays showed my babies abdomen was filled with fluid....her liver wasn't functioning properly and the metro had been making it worse...plus the dose they gave her was DOUBLE what 2 vets later told me should be prescribed to a dog that size. My baby had Lymphoma, and I lost her about 2 mos later....Feather and Fur, Dr. BLATT, never called again to check on her. I am writing this as my TRUE experience at this clinic, and I encourage people to QUESTION a vets decision...and double check them. Just because they have a fancy clinic, with fancy automatic scales and such...doesn't make them a good dr. With lymphoma, my baby couldn't have been saved, but she didn't have to experience the metro overdose because of this clinic and carelessness. What I think happened is Dr. Blatt didn't want to waste time with taking xrays, maybe because I wasn't an established client....maybe because he needed to be somewhere, and didnt not want to run over time....he made it about saving me money.....I didn't want him to save me money, I wanted him to save my best friend.
