When my mom and I went to this office to see about having our cat knocked out to be shaved (shes very skittish), we instantly both felt very wrong. When we walked in the windows were covered and it was very dark inside. There was very little seating and there were no techs or receptionists, only the single vet, a very old man who made us both feel very uncomfortable. The back where the files were kept looked very unorganized and dirty, and when he opened his book to make our appointment, it was completely empty, and we knew something was wrong. This did not feel like a place where animals go to be healed and get better, it looked like a place where animals go to die. I do not recommend taking your animals to this office, there were too many things wrong to risk it.
I have been going here for many years with different cats and dogs. It's a small place. Dr. Jones is very nice, but he is very quiet too. So, be sure to ask questions if you want to know something. He always makes thing affordable and doesn't push unnecessary or most expensive treatment on you. But, still takes good care of my pets.
I am a first time dog owner and my puppy had a really serious allergic reaction to dog food. All her face was swollen, she stopped eating and became withdrawn in the house. When I took her to this vet to explain the situation he was very patronizing; telling me there is nothing wrong with the dog; I'm over protective and should just let her be a dog (the swelling had gone down by then). Instead of offering me some helpful advice he treated me like I was a complete moron just because I've never owned a dog before. Also during the general check up he didn't stress the importance of getting the parvo booster within 3 weeks of the initial one; meaning we missed the deadline and could have had to start all over again. Luckily we have discovered the Austin Animal Trustees clinic and they were just wonderful and explained everything to us in a non condenscending helpfuly and friendly way. They have given us the exact dates for when her next vaccinations are due etc. It's too bad this vet is like this; I am sure he loses a lot of business because his manner.
For anyone who is low on funds, loves their pets and wants a great, compassionate doctor, this is the place to go. I highly recommend Dr. Jones and his pet clinic. Huzzah!
I called to inquire fees and was asked if I wanted an appointment, when I said I would call back after talking to my partner and I was hung up on. That didn't make me want to EVER make an appointment. If someone is going to get mad because I asked a question and didn't use their services I don't want them touching my animals with that attitude. Good luck with future appointments DR.
