I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Rowe since I moved to Texas 13 years ago and I truly believe she is an angel on earth. I've had to put two dogs down (one from bone cancer and one from stomach cancer) and she was phenomenal in both instances. Caring, compassionate, realistic, accessible and extremely fair priced. She understands how hard it is to lose an animal you love and makes the experience so much more bearable. I now own 3 rescue greyhounds and she always gets down on the floor with them when they're in the examining room to talk with them and make them feel more at ease. She seriously rocks! I will never go to another vet as long as I live in this state!
I took my dog, a 6 year old timid dog to have his shots and his nails trimmed, they [vet tech(s)] took him from the exam room into a room in the back (they did my second dogs' nails in the exam room) and suddenly I heard him scream at the top of his lungs and they brought him back. I have no idea what happened and they wouldn't say. Later, I had my dog spayed and about 6 weeks later she began to bleed in her sanitary area as though she was in heat. Well, according to the Dr. she had a stump left in her... Needless to say, despite the fair prices, we won't be returning nor will they be getting a recommendation.
Dr. Rowe is very thorough and is clearly an animal lover. She will get down to your pet's level and examine him while explaining to you what she's doing. The prices for the wellness exam, vaccinations, and even heartworm medicine is very reasonable. In fact, heartworm medicine is cheaper here than 1-800-PetMeds. I've taken my dog to another vet around here and I felt like they would try to guilt you into different things. They also charged quite a bit more. I would definitely recommend Dr. Rowe and Bedford Oaks Animal Clinic to anyone!
I give them 5 stars. When my cat developed a heart condition Dr. Rowe went above and beyond to explain the disease (in lengthy after hour phone calls), offer multiple therapy options, compassionate advice, and a sympathetic ear when, after 5 months, the only option left was to end my kitty's suffering.
