Over the past five years, my wife and I have brought all of our animals to Carrollton Animal Hospital (4 cats, 1 dog and 1 turtle). Dr McGuire as been great in always keeping our animals healthy, from everything from routine shots to very serious health problems. The staff is great as well, always looking out for our animals and checking on them via phone calls after procedures. We have kept our pets at the Carrollton Animal Hospital despite moving across the metroplex because of how much we like everything there. Plus, when you bring your animals, you might get to meet some of the cats that live at the clinic, like Jackson!
Our family has owned a Russian Tortoise for 7 years. It recently developed a problem with it's beak that was interfering with her ability to eat. We chose Carrollton Animal Hospital because of Dr. McGuire's experience with exotic animals. From when I arrived in the office everyone there was very nice, helpful and friendly. Dr. McGuire did an excellent job with our tortoise's procedure as well as provide us important dietary information for her going forward. In addition, Dr. McGuire called on Saturday (the following day) to follow up and check on our tortoise. Our tortoise is healthy and eating well thanks to Dr. McGuire's work. Our family is very appreciative of the job Carrollton Animal Hospital did for our tortoise. I highly recommend them!
Really appreciated the way Dr. McGuire cared for my cat when he needed an urgent bladder procedure. He made sure to update me multiple times throughout my cat's overnight stay there. It made me feel reassured and more at ease during a very stressful time. I will definitely recommend him and his staff to anyone I can.
W e have been with Carrollton Animal Hospital for over 19 years and the lifespan of 3 cats. We recently adopted 2 new cats and did not even consider going anywhere else. They are compassionate yet realistic. Love them.
I've been taking our animals here for at least 15 years, but recently had such an awful, negative experience that I requested the records for our puppy and am searching for another vet. Dr. McGuire was the most complete jerk to me on my last visit that I am writing this to let everyone know of his "compassionate care" that I received. We had adopted a cat two and a half years ago and from day one she was constantly vomiting. When we took her to Carrollton Animal Hospital initially, we were told that she was more likely four or five years old instead of the one year that we had been told at the shelter. Recently she was worse, and was not eating and had lost weight. We were trying to return her to the shelter and had not had a return call yet so we took her to the vet to be checked out. Dr. McGuire told us that she was more likely eight or nine years old instead and that he thought there might be kidney or liver problems and he wanted to run tests that would run into the hundreds of dollars, just to begin with. Well, I told him that we were not putting any more money into a cat that we were trying to return to the shelter and I asked about her being put down instead. His demeanor changed so abruptly it was amazing. I explained that we were both unemployed and simply could not afford to spend hundreds on a cat that we didn't really care for and were trying to return. He left the room. I began crying and discussing my options with the technician that was still in the room. She offered suggestions and told me that she would check me out in the room rather than my standing at the front desk crying. She was great. The back door opened and Dr. McGuire asked the technician if I was still in there and if I'd decided anything because he needed the room! She finished checking me out, and before she was done, he had the nerve to open the back door again and ask again whether I was done since he needed the room. I left and sincerely regret having paid for that office visit. I called once I got home and requested the records for our puppy so that we could find a decent, caring vet. Not two days later, I actually received an e-mail from them asking for feedback on my visit to "ensure that we are providing you with the utmost service and compassionate care." Needless to say, I was floored since I had received the most non-compassionate care possible from Dr. McGuire. We have since been able to return the cat to the shelter so that she may be taken care of by their vet and hopefully find another, more suitable family to love her.
