My family and I have used Animal Hospital of Park Glen for many years and have been largely satisfied. During this visit, the first since my one year old puppy and I have moved back to the area, however, I could not say the same. I had extreme difficulty obtaining heartworm medication, despite having the conversation with every staff member I came in contact with. Also, despite having my puppys records faxed over, there was confusion regarding her vaccines due. All of this would have been fine, except the doctor spent 4 (at most) uninterested minutes with me and my dog, hardly making eye contact or engaging in conversation (although he did see fit to charge me $50 for his exam alone). The reason for his rush was clear when he left for lunch ahead of me checking out at the front desk. All in all, the clinic may have lost a long time customer.
First of all, I cannot believe that the customer below would give such a low rating based on one experience. I have been a customer of this animal hospital for at least 10 years and my pets and I have always been treated with the utmost respect, care and compassion. Dr. OGorman (and his associates) always exceed my expectations and I would not trust my dogs with anyone else. Their clinics are sparkling clean, the boarding facilities are top-knotch and the techs are friendly, compassionate, caring, and above all, willing to do whatever it takes to make my dogs happy (and me!). Give them a try...you will not be disappointed.
By my own admission I may have forgotten a vet trip was in order, my dog a little over 10 months old, has only had the first round of shots. He needed some more vaccinces. But he was feeling down lately and I took him in to have some tests. Making sure he was OK. Knowing that my dog had not been to a vet I was a bit concerned when they took him to the back. I had a dog many years ago that also was not frequently touched or handled by strangers and she bit the nurse. I mentioned it before the nurse took him away, this was completely different dog of course but still worried me. Both dogs never bit anyone before. The nurse comforted me by saying if he get's out of control we will put a muzzle on him. I said "OK". They came in later with my dog and gave him a physical examination. Which I might add he had never had before, much less the stool sampling and other intrusive proceedures. The vet and the nurse were very professional and kind, however the nurse was holding my dog a little to close to her face without a muzzle and when the vet touched a sensitive area my dog snapped at the nurse tech and bit her on the lip. So you would think they learned the lesson the first little outburst but no they did it again, and of course again he was not pleased and again snapped, didn't bit anyone this time. Only the 3rd time, when they had to give him a shot did they muzzle him. Now my dog is in quaranteen for 10 days to make sure he doesn't have rabies...which of course he does not. It turns out my dog was probably just a little depressed as us humans sometimes are. He had not been eating right since my fiance moved out. He was probably just missing her and in tune with the drama surrounding the house. Now he is stuck there probably even more depressed for 10 days. SO...I did like the service but I would caution anyone going here if your dog is not a frequent vet visitor ask them to muzzle your dog when anything intrusive is being done. I probably would have bitten too if I didn't know what was going on.
