We had a great experience with Dr. Craig Verwers. Our office love bird, allegedly, was allowed into a room with a ceiling fan that was running and was hit. The obvious result on the bird was a broken tibia on his left leg. We took the bird to Dr. Verwers after a recommendation from a friend. He examined the bird and took an X-Ray to determine the extent of the injury and exact location of the break. Lucky for the bird, it was a candidate for surgery to insert a pin inside the bone and connect the two sections that were broken. The cost of this surgery was in line with another alleged estimate from the person who allowed the bird into the room with the fan and used as justification by him and others in the office to argue that nothing could be done for the bird. Several other office members thought otherwise and one office member volunteered to pay for the procedure to insert a pin on her leg and the office will conduct a fund raiser to try to pay some of the money back to that pure soul and great guy (I am that guy so I am being biased ! ). BUT, I can say that the folks at Ridglea did a very nice job on the bird and now her prospects for a recovery and future use of the leg are very high. If I lived near that clinic in Fort Worth, I would take my own two dogs and two cats there (YES, I have too many animals and cannot take another one in).
I just moved to FW and needed a vet when my dog had worms. They were able to get him in that day and the DVM spent time with me answering all my questions that were not even related to the worms. They medicated my dog and then when I checked out it was only like 50 dollars. I was quite impressed.
This my my first review of any business. Let's just say I'm writing it because I'm that frustrated with Ridglea Animal Hospital. I have taken my dog 3 times to RAH and will not return. The first visit was for a recurring ear infection. We were new to the area so we needed to find a new vet. I didn't have an initial problem with the staff, but was surprised to be charged extra for the dr squirting ear wash into his ears (that's not covered in the $40+ charge for the visit??). When I talked with them about it, they made excuses. I decided to let it go. The second time I took him in for a rabies vaccine so I could have him groomed. They gave him one shot, but when I went to pay for it I was again surprised at the cost, only to learn they had given him 3 vaccines (in one shot). I had told them specifically that I only wanted a rabies vaccine, and when I confronted them again at pay-out, they made no apologies and would not reduce my cost, when it was clearly their mistake. Lastly, I stopped by yesterday to pick up heartworm medication, which they were more than willing to sell me on the spot. However, I decided to go with 1800petmeds because it was half the cost (RAH initally told me they would match it, but upon my arrival they appartenly could not "go that low"). When petmeds contacted RAH, they would not authorize it, saying my dog needed a heartworm test. Again I called and was told it was "doctor's rules" ...which seems ironic since they were happy to sell it to me for twice as much with no heartworm test. That was the last straw for me. I have never received worse customer service and feel their business is shady and dishonest. 0 stars.
We LOVE going to see Dr. Knapp. He's always EXTREMELY helpful and takes the time to explain what's going on with our pets. The hospital has extremely affordable prices, it's nice to know that they're in it to help the animals, not to make a profit. Everyone there is so helpful and supportive, even if you just call to ask a quick question. I recommend the Ridglea Animal Hospital to everyone looking for a great vet.
I have taken my dog here since she was a pup and have had good service. The vet does very well explaining the situation and what needs to be done. The staff is friendly. But I have also experienced difficulties getting the vet to write prescriptions for Heartworm preventatives. I order them online since they are cheaper. I don't think they should be prescription in the first place, but that is just my opinion.
