We brought our dog in just after midnight on a Sunday night in 2011 after he suddenly collapsed and had a glazed look in his eyes. Living almost 30 minutes away, this vet was the only one that had doctors available at that time to see our dog. When we got there, they immediately took him away from us and kept him in the back. Our dog stayed back there while they gave us pricing options. Ended up costing around $2500 (or somewhere around there), but high prices are to be expected at an ER vet. However, they never let us visit our dog in the back... after a few hours of "tests" and no answers, they came in our room around 5 in the morning to tell us he had passed. Almost 4 years later, we still can't help but wonder if they really did all they could to save our dog. We never got an answer on what happened, just guesses -- but this wasn't the only reason we felt uncomfortable with this vet. Not being able to see my dog one last time and say goodbye to him still haunts me. Now we take our dogs to Gulf Coast, and even when our dog has been in the ICU they allow us to be with her as much as we want and you have NO doubt they are providing the utmost care. We left AERCWH feeling like we didn't even know if they had even done anything for our dog. Especially walking out with a hefty bill and just pawprints of our dog, it was extremely unsettling to feel like we could've done something different to save him.
If you love your best friend don't waist your time coming in here the whole time I felt like my baby life was a sales pitch all I kept hearing was we have different packages for you to choose from while I waited for 3 hours. My baby needed a C-section, which they priced at $2600-2900 depending on her recuperation. I didn’t have that kind of money (college student & on my own) so they told me my only other option was to spay her they gave her pain & nausea medication and charged me $280 pretty much just so I could watch my baby die. They told me since Greater Good didn't open till the next morning just to keep an eye on her till then if anything happen through the night to bring her back well I brought her back 2 hours later (12pm) but it was too late. I felt like my heart was broken when she passed, when they told me we have bad news she no longer with us but we have several packages for you to choose from I could not believe that they were so heartless. I have talked to several other emergency centers these past 2 days and they were pricing a C-section at $1700. I not only feel heartbroken for losing my baby but I feel like these people shouldn't be in this business, human or animal it’s still a life they are dealing with they should be more reasonable. -The other pricing I got was an emergency center and on a Saturday during the night, but by the time I got the price it was too late for my dog.
My 14 y/o girl had a seizure late on a Sunday night. This was the first time this had ever happened and I was terrified and had no idea what to do. I brought her to this emergency center because I had seen it while passing by for years. As soon as I walked in the door she was taken back and treatment began immediately. They were detailed and thorough about this event and her history. As soon as she was stable, the vet, Dr. McCauley came in and talked to me, spending as much time as I needed explaining things and then she called early the next morning to update me. I can't say enough about how friendly and caring the staff was. The facility was immaculate. I hope I never need an emergency hospital again but if I do I wouldn't hesitate to come back here.
They waited over an hour, for full financial payment at exorbitant rates, before treating a dog that had eaten large quantities of rat poison. Worst triage practice ever. Will NEVER recommend anyone visit there. Other 24 hour vets are within 15 minutes of this location, treatment will be faster in the end at one of these other clinics. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE.
I am greatful for this facility! One night my Jack Russell Terrier who I consider as one of my children had what looked like a brown dog tick on his ear - nervously my husband and I took my jack (Roscoe) into the Animal Emergency on H-6 where I have never been before. We were greated as we walked in by one of the staff who quickly placed us in a room, offered us a drink and snacks and taken my jack to check his vitals and had him right back to us stating the doctor would be in shortly. As some may know, jack's are very high tension dogs and Roscoe is not one for tight spaces therefore we sat outside the lobby area waiting. I did not mind the wait because there were a few other more intense patients there at the time which Vet Cindy was handling. Once she was free she came and got us from the lobby and examined Roscoe. Amazingly, my jack did not feel uneasy with her and allowed her to examine his ear, which thank goodnes was not a brown dog tick but instead a growth. She did find a really nasty ear infection and offered to swab his ear explaining to me that was the only way she could investigate the cause under the microscope to perscribe the correct medication which made a lot of sense to me. Personally, there is NO cost for my jack's health and well-being. For me, it's an automatic thought when having the need to take my Jack to emergency the costs will be more than a regular vet visit, same as for a human going to an emergency room instead of an office visit. The toughest situation for all in concern is our pets are voiceless and not usually seen by the emergency vet therefore without running tests and blood work most recommendations are on a whim because now it becomes second guessing. Most emergency vets are placed in situations such as these because the owner is the last one to make a call on their pet(s) well being - in all honesty! I made a soul commitment before picking up my Jack from the breeder that no matter what, I am solely responsible for his care and in all my power I reflect the love he unconditionally provides. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Dr. Cindy - you nipped my Jack's infection in the butt!! In addition, thank you to the staff for your care and dedication for those voiceless souls!
