When we rescued our pup, she had her initial visits at Pet Vet in The Heights and Banfield Sawyer Heights was a world of difference. I like the drop-off service, but I do want to know what the area looks like where she stays when she's there all day and am curious how often they take her out to go potty. The staff is really friendly though and they always follow-up after her visits to check on her. After she was spayed I was scared she'd never want to go back there, but she's always happy when walking in the front door and when leaving.
I got my dog neutered here and they let me take him home with the wrong sized cone. He opened his stitches up that night. I took him back, and they screwed up the cone size a 2nd time. They got it right the third time, but still tried to charge me for all 3 cones even though it was their negligent mistake. I went here for a year before realizing how bad they are. They try and sell you things you do not need without telling you they are optional – I caught them red handed. They screw up appointments. They lure you in with the wellness plan, but you do not need it. Find a local vet that actually cares about your pet and not taking as much of your money per visit as they can.
Good place to get food and toys but Banfield did a terrible job spaying my female Dalmatian. Apparently, if your dog is spayed too young or incorrectly, female dogs cannot hold their pee (i.e. incontinence). Now my dog pees whenever she goes to sleep. Of course, Banfield won't own up to their mistake. Always wait until your female dog has her first period or "heat cycle".
While the location is convenient, I've consistently had problems with the majority of the staff. Problems included: - Getting random phone calls calling to confirm other people's pets' appointments - Not being told by the vet during my appointment of a heart murmur - Being told there were no issues by staff when picking my pet up from a comprehensive exam then receiving a phone call later reporting issues - Lack of testing following the diagnosis of the heart murmur - Lack of follow-up to determine the cause of elevated liver enzymes
Have been taking my dog Dexter here for over a year now. Love the convince of the wellness plans and the staff are awesome! What made me really like Banfield was an incident a few months ago. Dexter broke out in rashes and I had no idea what it was. I scheduled him in the next day without a problem, and paid next to nothing to have him taken care of, the exam was covered by the plan and there was a discount on the medication. As for everyday vaccinations, exams, I have never any issue with scheduling, or changing appointments and I like that they call a few days prior as a reminder. Unlike some other vets I have taken Dexter too, I always feel like I am receiving quality care from knowledgeable staff with no pressure.
