We have been going to this vet for a while, but we are done now. They consistently overcharge after failing to adequately explain expenses and obtain approval for treatment. We recently had one of our dogs spade here, and it cost $700, which after doing some research I discovered is a ridiculous amount for that particular procedure. The service has always been simply adequate and the staff is okay, but they will certainly gouge you given the opportunity. I'd suggest finding a different vet if you are thinking about using this one.
Was just back again today due to my sick cat...... These people are the best!!!! I wouldn't take my cat anyhere else! I have tried during off hours of the Clinic and had returned because their care is second to none! I would like to say that I have been going to this Clinic since we moved here in 2000. We have gotten the best, honest, loving, compassionate care for our animals that I can ask for. They were there for us when our pets got sick and worked with us when it was time to send them to heaven. I do not understand negative reviews because we have been clients for 15 YEARS and have been treated with the utmost respect and kindness, always!!!
I used to love this place, since I moved to Houston 5 years ago. They were usually nice and respectful. But they did over charge you for services and medicines all the time and they would do things to your pet without asking and then charge you for it. I could live with that because I thought maybe it was needed. I just wish they would've consulted me first. Most of the time it was unnecessary stuff they did and all of that should've been my first clue to run. So this morning I took my dog to get neutered and later on they called me saying his blood work had abnormalities and he would need to take antibiotics and then come back later to get neutered. That's fine. Well I went in to pick him up and first off they charged me $200 for nothing basically. They charged me for topical flea medicine I didn't want nor need for him and I told them that specifically multiple times but they insisted he will need it eventually. And what really set me off is one of the medicines they gave me was in a broken bottle and I noticed when I got home and picked the bag up that it had spilt all over my new car's passenger floor board, seat, down the right inside, on my pants and jacket, my $400 Michael Kors purse, my dog, my dog's leash, and the parking lot. I called them and complained, they said they will replace it so I went back up there (it was only 20 minutes or less since I left because I don't live far) and they told me it will be $20 for a replacement. Which is ridiculous because they shouldn't have given me a defective bottle, and if it was glass (i don't know what kind because it was wrapped up) then they should've told me so and I would've taken it out of the bag (still, it sat on my floor board without moving so there's no way it was damaged in my car). I said there is no way I am paying for this, especially when it caused over $500 worth of damage to my things and now I have to try and repair everything that's not ruined (car, clothes, purse all ruined and stained). All they could do for me is give me the medicine at a discounted price which is still ridiculous so I told them to give me back what I paid for and from now on I will take my business elsewhere. This is how they do business and its not fair to the customer at all. I should've seen the signs before that they are not caring towards customers or even the animals. Worst experience of my life as far as customer service goes. This place needs to get its head out of its ass because there are many better places to go in the area that do far better business than this place. Its a disgrace how these people treated me, a once faithful customer. I should've left sooner but I was comfortable with this place and it became my downfall I guess. Overall, Grant Road Animal Clinic should only be used if you've had worse experiences with others in the area. Last resort only. But do be warned. You will get screwed over in some form. Shame on them.
WARNING!!! Don't go here. Avoid if possible. Made us wait for over an hour in a hot room. I asked an assistant what was taking so long and in a smug unpolite way she said "Doctor is with another patient, just wait" we left. Would give them 0 stars if I could.
I scheduled an appt for my ferrets with them for this weekend. They have the nicest, most helpful receptionist I have come in contact with. She's very empathetic and gave me a number to an exotics specialist just in case I'd rather take them there, however she was much more helpful and kind to me than the exotics specialist so I decided to bring my business to this office! Very cool people :) Will update after the office visit on the Doctor and the price of the visit.
