My pet Sparky was having some issues, I took him in to the ER on a Sunday. They were quick and very gentle with him. Everyone is so helpful and full of smiles. I am happy that they were open on a Sunday and was able to take care his issue. I will be coming back when i run into trouble again, because my spoiled pet is always getting into something. :) Thank you all for the support.
We love it here! We were very pleased on our service here! Plus their prices are affordable! We also can't get over how nice everyone is there! Even though going there normally means something bad, walking in you know they will take care of you! Highly recommend!
A few months ago, my little dog had a seizure. It was about 9:30 pm and I was so scared. The closet after hours pet emergency center was Emergency Pet Care of Round Rock. When we got there, we were treated so calmly and immediately attended too. I had to leave my little girl there over night and they took the very best care of her. They called me at home to let me know how she was doing. I picked her up the next morning and she was doing much better and very happy to see me.
Summary: charge an arm and a leg, don't properly fix the pet's illness, try to extort you/threaten to retain your animal if you can't pay upfront in full, and TERRIBLE customer service. Had to take our cat with a blocked bladder late Friday night so that he wouldn't die (very serious condition for male kitties). The vet on call came out with an estimate between $1030 and $1530 - well, first I was floored because another cat had been treated for the EXACT same condition at Dr McCleod's office for $400 total, for 3 days catheterization, all the meds he needed; everything. The vet on call could see I was shocked and I explained we were not prepared for that price based on our previous experience, and even the low end of the estimate would put our next mortgage payment in jeopardy. So the vet said if I agreed to sign the plan (I mean, I had to...that's my baby I raised from 8 days old), he would make sure our total was the low end of the estimate. I hesitantly signed, and we had to pay the $1030 upfront. Went to pick him up Sunday at 2pm, whereupon I was informed we supposedly had a balance of $400. I tried over and over to explain to the receptionist (old with glasses) that the vet at the time of admission promised we would only have to pay the low end of the estimate (which was, by the way, through Monday at 7am - so since they were releasing him early we should have technically been owed a refund of 2 shifts, or 17 hours care!). The receptionist became rude and told me they WOULD NOT release my pet (that's illegal) to me until I had paid in full, and accused me of THEFT of services if I didn't pay! When I kept trying to explain we had paid the balance agreed upon. Not to mention, now we have NO money and are borrowing money from relatives and selling items around the house to offset the unexpected cost. The receptionist continued to be adamant about pay and not letting me speak to anyone else about billing, saying she needed post-dated checks at the least. I tried to explain that even if I did that, there would not be sufficient funds in my account because I am disabled and cannot hold a regular job. She then gave a snotty look and asked what I was disabled with. Terrible, awful customer service. At that point I demanded to speak to the office manager, Christine. Once I met with Christine, she continued to refute what the first vet had told us and reiterated that it was only an estimate. So my husband that had to pay the original balance had to explain on the phone to her, over and over, that yes, we understand what an estimate is, but we were promised that we would only have to pay the low estimate. After an hour on the phone (and me and my daughter spending two HOURS there physically), the office manager finally caved and admitted that maybe some of the "miscellaneous charges" were unnecessary, and that maybe the initial vet "didn't explain the payment process properly." Finally got the cat back, after the receptionist rudely shook my discharge summary at me as if she were a moody 7-year-old. So, as bad as this experience is, I will say that the office manager Christine was very nice and accommodating to our situation once she understood all the facts. I'm sure some of the treating veterinarians there are good, too. Worst part is, after the kitty's pain medicine wore off, and they even sent meds with him, he is back to acting like his bladder is blocked, so taking him to McCleod because thank crap it's a weekday. I just seriously cannot believe this situation. I would have definitely waited for McCleod in the first place if it wasn't a life or death situation for my baby.
Several months ago, our Bichon Frise had surgery at the Specialty Hospital located at the same location as the emergency pet care center. She was almost into the last few days before stitches were to come out and she developed a rash with itching on her belly. Since she was very uncomfortable with a little bit of bleeding we took her to the emergency pet care on a Sunday. The staff was excellent and caring. We were able to get immediate relief for her with some topical spray and an antibiotic. I really appreciated having such a good, clean and caring center available for us and our bichon. Thank you so much.
