I have taken my dogs here for years - since 1999. The staff have always been courteous, friendly, and compassionate. The veterinarians have taken good care of my dogs.
My 10 year old dog has had a lot of medical issues arise within the last two months. We saw the female vet (Dr. Marx I think) and she was fantastic. She really tried keeping the cost down for us. We had gone to the emergency room beforehand and I just thought it was so overpriced. I made an appointment with McLeod and they saw me that day and tried their best to diagnose my dog. After blood tests, a sonogram, and fluid drips plus medicine, our puppy is back to her old self. We were talking about having to put her down because all the medicine didn't seem to help her much. However, we took a chance on this other (more extreme) medicine and it happened to work. The only reason I'm not putting 5 stars is I didn't really like my initial visit with the male vet (I think he's the owner). This was before our dog got really sick, we were just there for shots, I asked him about her sudden weightloss and he just looked at her and said "her organs are probably failing"...what?! So I had to ask if there's a test we can run to make sure and so we did a blood test. Everything came back normal and fine so he attributed it to getting old. After the emergency room visit I decided to take her to the other vet there and she was great. It turned out to be a gastrointestinal obstruction of some kind. Once on the medicine, she pushed it through her system and now has loads of energy and she's almost back to her healthy weight. I don't know if the male vet was just overwhelmed (they were very busy that day) or if he wasn't having a very good day otherwise but he was friendly and sweet, I just didn't like the comment. She had never been sick before so I never thought about her dying so soon till he said that and I almost started crying right then. But I will be taking my animals back to McLeod without hesitation. Our puppy is better, now we have another dog and a cat and these people are fairly priced and will work with you.
Wonderful caring staff. They have taken care of both of my cats for years..
Disclaimer: My review is based solely on the front office, and not at all on the veterinarians or the technicians. When I arrived I was attended by one of the staff members seated on the far left. I told her we had an appointment at 11:15 and gave her our last name. She asked for my name and then my pet's. Then she said she had to pull our file. Then she asked why we were in. After answering her questions I asked if she didn't already have the info on file since I had called in advance to schedule an appointment and had given that info (I don't know, just seemed odd and unorganized IMO). As I begin to walk away from the front desk, I stopped short (just about 5 seconds later) and turned around because I figured I'd be called in soon. Well lucky me, I was able to witness the two front ladies having a a nonverbal exchange of "looks" that included eye rolling and head shaking, and some heavy sighing. When I asked them if everything was okay and let them know I had witnessed the exchange and found it incredibly rude, the "office manager" Barbara became hostile and then rolled her chair around and gave me her back. The other lady was quick to try and do damage control but the office manager could have cared less. She gave me the equivalent of giving me a big "f#%$ you". Incredibly, incredibly unprofessional and rude. In my opinion, an office manager should have more tact. Terrible customer service and they will never, ever have our family's business again. The ladies are entitled to an opinion, but the least they could have done was wait until I was out of the office.
We have taken both our dogs and cats to Dr. Mcleod's office. If your looking for a vet that has a office that is as nice as a resort this isn't your place but those places also charge an arm and a leg. Dr. Mcleod is an old country vet, he provides sound medical treatment and advise for your pets. They also have a female vet there and if your looking for more of a gentle touch for your pet you can request her. I love my dogs and cats but I think it is ridiculous what a lot of these vets charge, at Mcleod animal clinic my pets get the care they need at a reasonable rate.
