I brought in my little dog in labor because I wasn't sure if she was okay. They checked her out and gave her an X-ray to see how things were. They were extremely friendly and my little girl knew she was in good hands. She ended up being medicine but they explained everything (including pricing options) to me before they started. They kept me informed through the entire process and checked in on her to make sure she was okay. They made a stressful situation easy and I'm so happy I brought her here!

I am only giving this group a 2 star because my personal vet whom I love suggested this place. I took my pet here after stabilizing them at an urgent care clinic...all they had to do was monitor him and update me and that appeared to be too difficult for them. I understand I'm not the only patient there but when I'm paying you good money the least I would expect is some communication. My updates were only when I would call and very generic at best..."he is fine. Putting out urine and poor intake" when asked for further information like if they repeated his kidney function since that is why he is there I would get conflicting data. Hope they treat their other customers better but pay attention to the reviews here....they got a poor score for a reason :(

I took my dog here for surgery because my excellent vet recommended them. They were very nice when making the appointment, but the rest of the experience was not so nice. We waited over 45 minutes to see the vet for our $115 consultation. Many patients with much later appointments went right in and were treated like they were very special to the staff. Dr. Payne explained the needed surgery very well (this is the one star), but the rest of the staff was indifferent to rude. They were much too busy visiting with each other. We were then shuttled out to pay up our $1800 down payment. We wound up paying an additional $300 when we picked him up. The intern who released him could not tell me if he had eaten, was confused about timing for the meds, and made a comment about wanting to be out of the office soon. She was very unprofessional. The e-collar that we paid for was too small and the dog could easily lick the wound, so we had to return for another one. When I called to schedule the suture removal, there were no times during the scheduled time frame for removal when Dr. Payne would be available in the office. I was told I could drive to Katy or see another vet. I choose not to ever set foot in this office again. I am appalled at the lack of compassion and customer service provided when I spent so much money. Let this be a warning if your vet wants you to use this office. My dog had the same surgery (different leg) two years ago for half the price and we were actually treated like we were important to them.

A referral from my regular vet to a specialist in oncology directed me to North Houston Veterinary Specialists (NHVS). My review is mixed, it was positive in some respects but negative in others. Veterinarian experience: Our oncologist was thorough and detailed regarding my cat's specific condition, addressing the immediate concern: her swollen nodes were chocking her. I was given a clear view of immediate treatment as well as an idea of what long term treatments would entail. I also explained my budgetary constraints. In addressing this immediate issue I definitely had a 5-star experience here. She took great care of my cat and got her out of immediate danger. Follow-up visits have been mixed but overall positive. Appointments/Support Staff: With only a few exceptions the front desk staff has been great. Friendly and knows my pet. Her main oncology nurse is a gem. I was very upset when she had a sub that did not know my pet as well. 5-stars Cost:  Wow. With the exception of our first visit they have been unexpected. We were given an idea of what to expect but several times the weekly chemo bill has been far above that. In fact one week it was tripled. I refused to pay that bill as they had been told to clear charges with me before administering treatments. I. was then called back and told it was a billing error. I then asked for an audit of my account. If they made the mistake here where else is one? So far my requests have been ignored. We are too deep into treatment for me to switch doctors so I will keep asking for it and for the cost upfront 1-star Other reviews mention wait time, in my experience it has not been excessive. But that could be because I came in on an emergency and I am dropping off my pet. When I have had questions if the doctor is not immediately available she calls me by the end of the day. Weighing in all of the above, I'm firm in my 3-star rating. I appreciate and respect the doctor's care, the caring staff, but I have my doubts about how they run their business.

Tried this vet because I was referred by my regular vet. I regret taking the advice. I found it interesting that the $40 medication that was the cure for my dogs bowel obstruction came with a $1,050 bill to establish what was actually wrong, though I was never told what the name of the condition was. The reason I give them a 1-star is because of their lack of communication and un-knowledgeable staff. On four separate occasions over two days they said they would be performing an examination and would call with results shortly, and on four occasions I was forced to call them to get updates. Twice the exam hadn't even occurred (8 hours after they said it would). The answers they gave over the phone were of no help what-so-ever; they could confirm (or not) that the exam happened, but not what was determined. I got a lot of "He's fine. He hasn't thrown up." and "He's sleeping." The only time I got to speak with a doctor all he did was read the notes that a different doctor had written. He couldn't answer my questions because he wasn't the person who had examined the dog (the other doctor had left without calling me to update). When I finally picked up my dog, the technician who explained the bill couldn't explain all of the charges (you know how doctors use abbreviations and code numbers) nor could she say what the actual cause of the bowel obstruction was. I asked her for a diagnosis and she gave be a blank stare, then said, "Don't worry, this medication will help. And keep him on a bland diet for the next few days." "What do you mean by bland?" "You know, canned chicken. Maybe mixed with rice." "So, canned food?" "Yeah. But you can use dry food too, that's ok." A wonderful explanation for taking care of my dog who is sick with a disease you can't name. Additionally, the CD they gave me with the x-rays and ultra sounds they took has files without extensions. They charged $168 for this CD which has files that can't be opened on a home computer. The next time I have an emergency with my pet, I think I'll just stay with my normal vet.
