I have used Dr Gieb for abt 18 years and have found him to be kind and truthful about the care of my dogs. I had a Chihuahua named Taco. She was nervous and liked to bite strangers. She only weighed about 5 lbs. The vet office in Azle always hated to see us coming. So I changed to Dr Gieb. He had a calm manner and said it was just the breed, and sometimes that could not be changed. He would always let me hold her while he gave her shots or even if he had to poke or prod her. He never took it personal and just did his job professionally. I always appreciated that. I will say the same for the doctor that came in to do surgeries, I don't remember her name. I will say the same for the staff. They all made a stressful situation seem better. Virginia Brown

I lost two dogs to this man. The first was mauled by a pair of German Shepards belonging to a neighbor. The neighbor ordered Dr. Gieb to have my dog put down, so he was. I was never given any choice in the matter and just received a phone call after the fact. The second was hit by a car and Gieb was the closest vet around, so I stupidly took her to him. Even though he was informed by a nurse about my dog's situation, he still took nearly an hour to finally come see her. When he did come in, without even looking at her, he started asking me about how much I was willing to pay, then proceeded to poke and prod my dog, even pulling at her skin despite her whining and crying in pain. He showed no compassion for her. He then gave a $1000 dollar estimate for just putting in plates into her hips, never even gave her x-rays to see if she would need plates, but when I told him there was no way I could pay that, he suggested I put her down. I did. On the bill, it stated I could set up a payment plan with him, something he neglected to tell me before I had my dog put down. I would have taken that option had I even known it was an option. He doesn't care about pets. All he cares about is money. I would rather drive an hour to a respectable vet now instead of wait that same hour for him to decide my dog is worth his time. If you love your pets, don't take them to him.
