When we found our dog was sick on a Sunday, after she was cared for by a neighbor, we went to emergency care. They kept her overnight and the next day we were told to take her to Animal Medical Services. Our dog was there three more nights. Not once did Dr. M return our calls. We never met her. We spent almost $1000 between her emergency facility and her office. Our dog was hydrated and doing well, but there was no discussion about what may have been the problem. This is just rude behavior. Last week we took our other dog to her office as he was having a problem with chewing his tail, because our regular vet is so hard to get into. Dr.M excreted his anal glands and then said he needed a pitched nerve treatment which she proceeded to do. The cost was @ $65 and she added an anti-inflammatory that raised the bill to over $100. I declined the med and called my regular vet and got the medicine for $9. Three days later, the dog is still biting and I noticed little bumps at the top of his tail. Doctor never addressed that. Called to ask about Dr. M taking a look and was told she is too busy at the moment and would call us back. I called back an hour later and was told Dr. M. left for the day. If you don't want to be treated like crap, stay away. I will save my sanity, time and money and go somewhere else.

I'm not usually one to leave reviews BUT when I have an experience THIS bad, I want to make sure others don't have to go through the same garbage. PLEASE do not ever take your pet to Animal Medical Services to see Dr. Carolyn Mcguire. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PET. They care about charging you as much as possible. I took my kitty in because he couldn't open his eye. She said she would put a stain in his eye to look at it under a black light to see if he had a scratch, but she never even used the black light, but of course they charged me for that test. She said it was an infection, gave me some drops and sent me on my way. She told me to come back in one week to have him checked. A week went by and although his eye looked a little better, I could still tell that there was something not quite right. It looked like he had something IN his eye. Not to mention he started having diarrhea with blood and mucus. I took him in again for his recheck and she said he looked great and that I could take the cone off and be done with the drops. I TOLD HER THAT IT LOOKED LIKE THERE WAS SOMETHING IN HIS EYE AND SHE SAID, AND I QUOTE "OH IT'S FINE". Not ONCE did she use a black light or even a flash light or ANYTHING to look into his little eye. She just looked into the carrier he was in. I asked about the bloody, mucus diarrhea and she said, it's probably his food, and gave me a food that is only sold in her office to try (go figure right?) I brought my kitty home and sure enough, the next morning he couldn't open his eye again. We called the office first thing, the nurse talked to the doctor and said that I should put the cone back on him and continue with the drops for another 10 days. I asked "is she not concerned that it looks like there's something in his eye?" and the nurse said "well if she looked at him yesterday..." and I said "she DIDN'T. I asked her to and she said 'oh it's fine' but i can SEE something in there" The nurse said I could bring my kitty back in, but that they'd charge me (of course, since that's all they care about). I immediately called another vet that was able to see my little guy that day. I took him in, and turns our he has an ulcer in his eye and a bacterial infection called giardia which was causing the bloody mucus diarrhea. I can not tell you how awful Dr. Carolyn Mcguire and her staff are. If my son or daughter had something in their eye and I took them to a doctor that said "oh it's fine" I'd be suing for malpractice. And not to mention all the "little" things about the office. The office STINKS SO BAD. You can tell it is not a clean place. The staff is just grumpy. I'm new to owning a cat so I had a lot of questions. They were all very short with me. Since I was a new patient for them I showed up to my appointment 10 min early. I ended up waiting about 50 minutes to be seen with not even an apology for having to wait that long. When I got there they said the price would be $45, but they did a bunch of tests that they didn't tell me about or get my approval for, so when I went to pay my total was over $200. Just, PLEASE take your pets somewhere else. This office is a joke and I honestly don't know how they are still in business.

I found this vet though Google, and went there initially for 2 reasons- 1. there were less negative reviews about this vet than the others, and 2. They were open on MLK day and I really needed to get my sick cat into a vet. The staff was very friendly and I feel like they really cared for my cat. I came to visit a couple times while she was on an IV treatment. I expected that they would try to get me out to open the room up, but they did the exact opposite. They let me stay as long as I wanted (2.5 hours) and they would check on me only occasionally to be sure everything was okay. Dr. Maguire was great about letting me know about what was going on with my cat, but she could sense my limits for negative news and was even able to talk about how to help my kitty pass into the next life with peace. She sent us home with pain meds so my husband could say goodbye (he was on a business trip through all of this). When the time came to let my cat go, Dr. Maguire and one of her assistants came to our home so my cat could pass without the stress of being in an unfamiliar place. She gave us all the time we needed, and I truly felt that she cared for our cat and for us as well. I would highly recommend Dr. Maguire and the staff at Animal Medical Services.

they are very nice to the animals and seem to care much more than any other vets I've been to.

I was hesitant to bring my dog here due to some of the negative reviews. However, he had been here with his previous owner (a family member) and they had a good experience. When I brought him in, Dr. Maguire and her staff (including the receptionist) were so friendly and really seemed to care for my dog. The only problem I have had with them is that they didn't have the microchip in for the first appointment (which was the main reason I made the appointment) but they were able to microchip my dog about 1-2 weeks later. They are very knowledgeable and always take time to answer all of my questions. I would recommend them to anyone.
