I had such a great experience with Riverwoods Pet Hospital! The staff is so helpful, nice, and wonderful with animals. I took my cat there to be spayed, and they were great! They couldn't have done a better job, or gave me better peace of mind! I will definitely go back!
Dr. Dobson has been our vet for years and she has always done a great job. We have brought dogs, cats, lizards, and even birds and she has handled it all well. For as long as I live in in utah I will be going to her
I've now taken three pets to Riverwoods and the treatment has been awesome. Two of those dogs just had life long routine care (heart guard, vaccines, etc) but one of them had much more serious treatment. My puppy had bloody diarrhea one night and we took her to the emergency clinic. We didn't have very much money so they just pumped her full of fluid and sent us home with a diagnosis of Parvo and telling us she would probably not make the night, much less the weekend. Fortunately, Riverwoods was open the next morning and we rushed her in. They told me that she had a 25 percent chance of making it through, but they would do everything they could. They were compassionate, honest, and they held to their word. They not only brought my pup back from the brink, but Tonks made a full recovery. She was given a death sentence, and they brought her back.
I have been quite pleased with Riverwoods Pet Hospital! I rescued a poor little persian kitten that was incredibly malnourished and had a horrible upper respiratory infection. The staff at Riverwoods was so sweet and understanding and did their best to offer Violet the best care possible. Because she was a rescue, they were understanding in the financial burden this was for me. They applied discounts where possible and allowed me to make payments on my $800 + vet bills. Mind you, those vet bills were not high because of their prices... but because my poor kitten had blood work, x-rays, overnight stays, breathing treatments, medicines, etc. She is on the way to feeling better and I feel SO grateful!! I love Riverwoods Pet Hospital and I am confident you will too!!
I took my baby (2 months old) guinea pig to these people just to get a check up and check for mites. She supposedly tested positive for a minor case of mites and was administered some Revolution mite treatment and scheduled a follow up appointment. I went back for the follow up a week later and it was as if Dr. Dobson had mixed up my guinea pig with another patient. She asked how my guinea pig's hair loss was to which I replied that there was no hair-loss and that she had told me it was only a very minor case of mites. Dr. Dobson then told me that I was wrong and that my guinea pig's mites were very severe. She then asked me how the antibiotics were going and I told her she had never prescribed any antibiotics. She then said that she needed to prescribe some just as a precaution, "Just in case". A vet tech then came in and administered Baytril orally to my guinea pig so roughly that my guinea pig gagged and spit up. I did some research right when I got home about why this antibiotic would be prescribed and found that Baytril is not recommended to be used for guinea pigs under six months old. The days following, my guinea pig became severely constipated and lethargic, until one morning I found her laying in her cage, alive but completely brain dead. In a panic, I rushed to Riverwoods for help and was met with the most flippant and dismissive behavior I'd ever experienced. After examining my poor brain dead, writhing in pain, foaming at the mouth guinea pig, the vet told me that guinea pigs "just have poor immune systems" and that things like this "just happen to guinea pigs sometimes." They sent me home with a $260 bill (not including the previous $200 for the antibiotics and visits). My guinea pig died later that afternoon after being in clearly agonizing pain for more than 12 hours. These people killed my guinea pig. They killed her in an awful, painful way so they could make a quick buck off me for unnecessary and harmful medication. These people do not care about your pets. All they care about is getting your money and creating reasons to get you to come back. They are not knowledgeable about the medications they prescribe. Do not take your pets here. If you have a healthy pet, Riverwoods Pet Hospital will be sure to change that.
