He's a wonderful doc. My dog wouldn't let anyone near her but he was able to be friends with her and help me take care of her. I'd suggest him to anyone.
I have, on emergency basis, taken my dog to Dr. Durfee. In the past my dog has received good care on each of the previous visits. Now that my dog is 9 years old he is beginning to experience arthritis. Dr Durfee recomended Rimadyl and filled the prescription at a cost of $1.00 per pill. I was familiar with the drug because my daughter's dog is also on it. I ask about receiving future refills and a written prescription to be filled elsewhere due to driving distance. I was told there would be no problem. Through my daughter I learned that I could have the generic equivalent filled at less than 1/3 the cost through an online pharmacy. When the prescription was a couple weeks from needing to be refilled I started the process. I called the clinic and ask that my current prescription be faxed to the new pharmacy. I was told there would be no problem and it would be taken care of that afternoon. I waited a week and heard nothing further and made contact with the pharmacy. Was told that no fax had been received. I recalled the clinic and ask that they re-fax it and advised I was getting low on meds so time was important. A week later still no word from clinic or pharmacy. I learn that Dr. Durfee and the pharmacy are having a billing disagreement (between them... nothing to do with my prescription). I again called the clinic and ask that they deal with their problems separatly and fax my prescription as my prescription has nothing to do with his billing disagreement. The following day I was to drive through Salina so stopped by the clinic. I was told that they would fax my prescription, but would be charged a $50 transfer fee (not previously required.) I refused the charge and ask for a my original prescription. I was told I could have that for... you guessed it, $50. I ask for enough pills to hold over. I was charged $1.50 for the same pills for which I was previously charged $1.00. My complaint is two fold. First and formost, that no consideration was given to the discomfort my dog was experiencing (or would be experiencing) due to lack of medication. Secondly, that somehow Dr Durfee feels the need to involve his clients in his unrelated arguements and thirdly punish his clients through higher costs for doing business with those he has disagreement.
