We have been going to this veterinarian center for years went in for a grooming today and they said we must have kennel cough vaccination updated or they wouldn't see my dog which cost me another 50 bucks... And they just saw her two weeks ago! so now I have to take my dog to another groomer who will do it without a kennel cough vaccination required update I will actually charge me much less for the grooming and actually much less for the vaccination itself ....very disappointed
We have been going to this vet exclusively for over 11 years. We have had several animals needing surgeries spay/neuter, rabies vaccines and other necessary health visits. Recently our older dog has been in need of 4 surgeries once a year for the last 4 years. We recently went in for a groom so we could get the surgery done, and got a bid. Went back to pick up the dog after the grooming the and the quote increased by over $300. When we questioned the doctor he said there are three moles that need to be removed not one and the teeth cleaning. We just spent $125 for the grooming, exam and anitbiotics. It will almost cost $1000 for the removal of 3 moles and teeth cleaning and that's with the 20% discount. We thought this was excessive, we tried to get it lowered but they wanted to cut out the antibiotics which we thought was strange especially after a surgery. They also wanted to cut out removal of any small moles they would find too which was a $100 if they found any, again I thought was bizarre since this was the purpose of the surgery. I am extremely dissappointed in their apparent greed instead of my loyalty and my dogs health.
All vets have their own methods of treatments. Dr. Edmonds and Dr. Morrissey at Sandy Animal Clinic may use methods that could cost you more money, and make your pet go through more discomfort and pain then they should. First, don’t expect them to go over any services/procedures with you beforehand. Also, for your sake before paying make sure they actually performed everything you’re billed for. We took our 4-5 month old kitten in to get spayed because our first visit for our other cat, 1 year prior, was pleasant. Getting an estimate on the procedure/ services being done was a waste of our time, and may be a waste of your time because they obviously don’t reference it. They “forgot” to give her the de-wormer we were billed for, they performed an unnecessary epidural without asking/notifying us, and didn’t give her the antibiotic shot we had specifically requested, nor did they tell us it wasn’t administered. When we went in to pick up our kitten we noticed her back was shaved. It wasn’t until then we were told she had an epidural, thus getting stuck with the expense. We asked the technician why a small kitten would need the general anesthetic, an epidural, and the shot for extended pain relief (alternative option to oral pain medication). She stumbled over her words a moment, and never gave a clear answer. This was very frustrating because the epidural was not necessary; resulting in a small kitten being pumped full of 3 different pain medications in a short period of time, and leaving us with an outrageous bill. This proved to me that their compassion and concern for the animals comes second to money. As for her suture they chose to use staples, which I wasn’t thrilled about. A few days after being home we noticed one of her staples looked like it was coming loose and another one was too tight and began ripping a hole in her belly, causing the poor little girl more pain. (We were keeping her from jumping/playing and kept her environment very clean.) Personally, I do not agree with Dr. Edmonds method of using rigid staples in the soft skin of a kitten. I’m sure staples are easier and quicker to apply then stiches, but I have never seen as much irritation and damaged caused by stiches. By the next day we noticed there was drainage coming from the suture. Unfortunately we had to take her back to Dr. Morrissey. She took her in the back to clean the suture and remove one staple that was falling out, and remove the one that was ripping a hole in her belly. The technician then came in to tell us there was a little bit of infection and proceeded to bill us $40.00 for an antibiotic shot. We were confused since we initially asked for her to have the shot. We told the technician we asked for it to be done during our first visit, and she told us they decided not to do it. Why we were never told, I don’t know. After explaining to the technician that we weren’t going to pay for something that should have already been done; she eventually got the charges waived. I appreciate them for doing this very much, although it should have been avoided completely. Needless to say, I refuse to take my business to Sandy Animal Clinic and hope that other pet owners are aware that the main objective at this clinic is money, not the animal’s well-being.
Sandy Animal Clinic is AWESOME!! I've been taking my pets to Dr. Edmonds for years and have always had a great experience. Dr. E is wonderful to work with and really cares about your furry children. Unlike other vets I've been to, Dr. E never pushes unnecessary tests or proceedures but takes the time to clearly explain all options available to ensure you pets are happy, healthy and pain free. His staff is first class and always helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a top notch veterinary clinic, Sandy Animal Clinic is where you need to go!
There are many Vets the Sandy/Draper area. I called around to see what each had to offer. I was immediately impressed by Sandy Animal Clinic. They were informative and friendly on the first call. I dropped by the office to see what it was like and the building is clean, updated and very nice. I took my puppy in and I was very satisfied with the way they greeted me, cared for my dog and explained everything to me about the visits and costs. The Doctor was great and even took time to talk to me and get to know me and my family. The staff is awesome and I'd highly recommend them.
