Puddi Loves Jordan River Animal Hospital, the staff there are great, I think i have the only dog who likes going to the Vet!. They provide a break down of the costs and my options each time so that I can get the important stuff immediately and plan for future costs. Great Place

My Great Dane had gotten into something he shouldn't have, so I called the first place that was actually open after trying unsuccessfully to find ipecac anywhere, who knew most stores took it off their shelves. I spoke to a super nice lady that told me it was going to cost a certain amount to give my dog a shot. So I rushed him down, I get there, and the place is clean, well organized and the vet was super informative. When I left to pay, the cost went up by about $20 over what I was quoted and I was in a rush to get to work so I didn't feel like arguing over it. So overall, the experience was good, I just felt a bit slighted from the phone quote to the final payout.

IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET DO NOT TAKE IT TO JORDAN RIVER ANIMAL HOSPITAL! All they care about is charging you as much as possible and giving you nothing in return. We took our dog in during emergency hours because she hadn't felt well and was getting worse. It must be the same emergency doctor that everyone else here has complained about. It was Andrew J De Socio that was working that night. They took her into another room for the exam and did not let us go in with her. First Red Flag! They charged us over $500 for a blood and urinalysis and said they didn't know what was wrong with her. They wanted $300 more for x-rays so we took her home. Then she stopped eating and we took her to another vet. We had the blood test sent over to the other vet. From those results and a physical exam, they could tell right off she had massive tumors inside her and because she had grown so weak and was anemic they could not operate and we ended up putting her to sleep. If Jordan River Animal Hospital had told us this a week before, instead of trying to soak us for more money, it would have saved our dog a lot of pain and suffering.

Jordan River Animal Hospital is an outstanding veterinary care facility, staffed by dedicated, compassionate, and highly skilled professionals. Dr. Terry Silkman is the finest veterinarian I have ever known. I trust him completely with the care of my dogs and have had nothing but positive experiences with him. We have entrusted the care of 5 different dogs with him, over a period of ten years. I have never known a vet as dedicated to providing the highest quality care to animals as Dr. Silkman. A number of years ago, our Siberian Husky/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix developed a tumor on the central lobe of her liver. We discovered the liver problem via routine blood work, and the tumor was confirmed by ultrasound. Dr. Silkman discussed all options with us, and we decided that surgical removal of the affected liver lobe was the correct treatment. We all expected the surgery to be brief and uneventful, but that was not to be. Every time Dr. Silkman would attempt to surgically remove the tumor, our dog would stop breathing. 15 times over a period of 1.5 hours, Dr. Silkman revived our beloved dog, and he came out of the operating room drenched in his sweat from his heroic efforts to save our dog. To make a long story short, two days later, we took our friend home, and we had several wonderful years with her before she ultimately succumbed to bone cancer. I have absolutely no doubt that, in the hands of any ordinary veterinarian, our dog would not have survived that surgery. It is only through the advanced veterinary equipment, well-trained surgical assistants, and Dr. Silkman’s incredible skill and determination, that our Husky survived that surgery. We will forever be grateful to him. More recently, our French Spaniel had an epileptic seizure. This happened at midnight, and we live a three hour drive from Salt Lake City. We called Jordan River Animal Hospital’s 24 hour emergency service, and since we had very limited options at our home, they advised us to bring our Spaniel to the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital at 4AM, Dr. Silkman was there to greet us at the door. He examined our dog, gave him medication, and monitored him for hours. Again, his caring was matched only by his expertise. Later, we found out that Dr. Silkman was supposed to be off that day, and he came in just to treat our dog – at 4AM. I could go on and on about the high quality of this practice, but I intend to keep this review brief. Suffice it to say that my wife and I are incredibly picky about the care of our dogs, as they are valuable members of our family, and not just pets. We consider ourselves very lucky to be able to patronize a practice as outstanding as Jordan River Animal Hospital. Dr. Silkman is, quite simply, the best. I am really shocked to read a couple of negative reviews of Jordan River Animal Hospital, and Dr. Silkman in particular. I can only tell you that, in ten years of patronizing this practice, I have never been dissatisfied with the quality of care, and the compassion demonstrated by Dr. Silkman. It’s true that Jordan River Animal Hospital is not the least expensive practice in the Salt Lake area. But, in my opinion, they are the best. I highly recommend them to anyone who truly cares about their pet.

My experience at Jordan River Animal Hospital was fantastic. A few years back, my cat Miso started to lose weight very quickly, and my wife and I were desperate to figure out what was wrong. We searched for a number of different vets, and asked our friends for recommendations, and JRAH kept coming up. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Silkman, and I was impressed with the time he spent with us. He explained all of the potential issues that we could be facing in a very down-to-earth way, and gave us his recommendation. It turned out Miso had developed diabetes (not weight-related), and Dr. Silkman taught us everything we needed to know to take care of Miso. After two years of periodic visits to JRAH, Miso overcame her diabetes, and I feel like my wife and I (along with our two cats) are part of the Jordan River Animal Hospital family. My experience here has far exceeded what I've encountered with other vets (not that others have been bad, but the service at JRAH is exceptional), and I trust both of may cats to their care (since they are certified cat-friendly).
