I have taken my dogs to Dr. Young since 1989. He has always been kind and caring. He took excellent care of my first dog while he battled cancer. When I came in with a new dog a few months later he said "I'm so happy to see you are back". He genuinely cares about the animals and owners. He has always been right about their diagnosis and is never offended when I took them to VT for a 2nd opinion (although obviously not necessary). I recommend overlooking the aging office because his care is worth it!

Christiansburg Veterinary Clinic is the perfect place to take care of all your routine vet visits such as shots, flea control, minor injuries etc. They don't take appointments, you just show up with your pet and wait your turn. There are good times to visit that you won't wait at all such as from around 2-4 pm. This is much better than trying to squeeze in appointment at another vet (who'll charge you at least three times the same cost for the same service!) I have heard Dr Young does great spay/neuters at a very low cost--this must be the case because I've never been able to get an appointment there-can't usually wait the 2 month wait list. I have had some problems with more serious health issues and this is their weakness, but as long as your problem isn't serious I recommend them wholeheartedly! Sparrow Star-I call the "magic shot" the "mysterious white juice"...I don't know what's in it but it does seem to heal everything...

I've been going to C'bug Animal Clinic since 1980, before Dr Young was even an intern there. Doc Carter was still alive--what a dear man he was! This is the most wonderful vet in the world for routine maintenance, but when there's a problem and I need a "vet-vet," I go elsewhere. I was reading above about the puppy with the heart problem and my heart goes out to you, but you obviously weren't from here and didn't know. Lesson learned: If you're spending a small fortune on your dog, DON'T skimp on the vet check!!! Kinda like that your bow should cost twice as much as your violin. For what he does do, though, **where in the world would we be without him??** I have taken numerous pets there over the years. One of my cats lived to over 17 yrs old, all but his neutering was done by Dr Young. And when my dog had to be put down there wasn't a dry eye in the house. These are wonderful good people. And don't forget "the magic shot" which has cured many a critter-ill.

They are fast,reasonably priced and gentle to our doggies. So smart too!

I know that the office is rather run-down, but this is obviously how the prices for the services stay so low. The staff has always been so kind and respectful of me and my animals and I have been pleased overall with Dr. Young and how he has treated all of my pets over the years. I feel that if you are looking for fair, honest and affordable treatment for basic pet care, then this is the perfect place.
