I took my dog to Lee's Hill a couple of weeks ago after getting tired with the 'corporate treatment' we had gotten from a vet that was part of a chain. There was a great difference! Dr. Kensek obviously has a lot of compassion for pets she treats. The exam went well. No problems were found and my dog was given a clean bill of health. Dr. Kensek provided advice about keeping my pet's teeth clean. A professional cleaning at Lee's Hill may be in order. Locally owned practices rock, I decided!
She started out great and then quickly spiraled into crazy-town. She grabbed my husband by the back of the neck to demonstrate proper disobedience, and that was probably one of the more pleasant experiences we've had in the past few visits. She's really comfortable with animals, but she's pretty terrible with people, including her staff.
Was going to adopt a dog from them that I found online. Being that I live over an hour away, I called to get some info and set an appointment. The lady on the other end of the phone was not friendly. In fact, she was downright rude, only offering short, effortless answers. Extremely unprofessional and had no knowledge of their adoption process and made no effort to get answers. Again, I live over an hour away, still, after asking three times, they refused to tell me if there was an adoption fee or not. I would have paid a fair adoption fee and I was ready to do so, but they wouldn't tell me if there was even one! I didn't want to drive an hour only to find they put a $300 "adoption fee" on a stray dog. I also wanted to know about the application process. I wanted to know how many trips it would take and if there was any way to minimize trips because of the long distance. She did not know how long it took. When I asked how many trips it would take, she said, "I'm not sure." I asked for a rough guess, an average amount, and she said, "Not too many." Ridiculous. She put me on hold when I asked the last two time about a fee and when she came back she would change the subject, saying something like, "So, are you still coming to the appointment?" And I would say, "Did you find out about an adoption fee?" And she would say, "No." WHY?! I feel sorry for the dogs in their possession. We had already gone to the store and bought the things we needed if we were to get their dog. They are doing a great disservice and I hope that these dogs find another organization that cares about them and will TRY to get them adopted.
If you want to be charged an extra hundred dollars to have your ever-so-sensitive emotions taken care of, go see a psychologist. If you want a vet who's primary concern is your furry family members, this is the place for you. Everyone's brain works differently, and hers is the slightly erratic brain of a genius. If in this day and age, you still can't recognize that, it's your loss. My pets and I always get in and out quickly, and the cost is always low. This is going to be our vet forever. p.s. Their health plans are a great deal if you know you critter is going to need a bunch of shots and tests coming up soon.
I have been seeing the same vet for almost 13 years since my dog was a puppy. Recently my vet's office, was sold to a new vet, who is more interested in making lots of money rather than caring for my best friend, Zoe. I took Zoe in for her annual exam in Dec. She was given a "clean bill of health" after prescribing pain meds for her developing arthritis. The meds cost me $85 per month. I went online and found the same meds for $29. When the online pharmacy called the vet office to confirm, they billed me $30 (the vets office). Shortly after the visit in Dec my dog's breath became terrible. I brush her teeth weekly and thought it must be something else. Why didnt my current vet say anything? Why didnt she even do an oral exam? I took Zoe to the local Petsmart, Banfield. They told me that she needs three teeth pulled and a whole list of other dental procedures totally over $1500. I started calling around and found Lees Hill Pet Hospital. They got me in with a couple of hours to see my dog. The vet spent 1.5 hours giving her a complete and thorough exam. More than any of the previous vets in her history, checking her over from top to bottom. She gave a detailed and thorough oral exam. Total bill for detail cleaning from the vet? ~$300. One Fifth of Banfield and can get me in for the procedure in a few days, not weeks. I am a retired Marine with over 27 years of service. If you want someone with special people skills then go to church or see a shrink. It you want your pets taken care of by a compassionate and competent vet then come to Lee's Hill.
