I've been a customer of Banfield for so many years now. My experience with the hospital has only declined over the years but I stayed because it was much cheaper than a regular vet. However, the last two visits I had there were terrible. I arrived 5 minutes ahead of my appointment time for this very last appointment and watched another lady show up after me and get taken ahead of me. This was the same scenario that occurred with the prior appointment so I was starting to feel frustrated. I watched the little screen in my exam room and noticed that indeed someone was checked in for a later appointment and was seen first (this corresponded with the lady coming into the room next to mine, as was indicated on the screen). I waited over an hour and never saw anyone. I walked out and asked the receptionist to see if I could leave (I had to get to work), and of course, she found the doctor (who was in the next room still), who came out to tell me that what had happened did not happen. When I told him that I watched the other lady come in with her dog after I had, and then seen the screen change to prove he was ignoring me in my appointment, he again tried to tell me that didn't happen. I was trying to bear through this scenario the first time it happened and give this location some grace, but now that a vet there wouldn't stop lying to me directly, I decided to go to a new vet altogether. When I went to the new vet, the vet suggested I get my dog's thyroid checked. I told her that I had asked Banfield to do that very recently and they said it was all normal. (I'd had my suspicions that his thyroid was a mess but was told, after I spent a considerable amount of money at Banfield, that he was normal - even though the vet at Banfield refused to quantify the thyroid number on the exam - apparently, I'm a dumb consumer who shouldn't be doing my own research as well). Surprise Surprise - the new vet found that my dog's thyroid was severely low, the levels were almost to 0 and should have been between 1 and 4! Good thing I wasted all my money at Banfield - I guess you get what you pay for. Within a few days of starting my dog on his new medication, his chronic skin issues that I was paying out lots of money to Banfield to fix, were suddenly almost gone! I knew the skin flareups were most likely an indication of a thyroid problem, because a) I've done my research, b) I've spent years between several vets and dog dermatologists trying to fix the issue and nothing changed, and c) I had the same scenario myself and eventually fixed my thyroid and the resulting skin problems. But I bet a Banfield vet wouldn't know that if I tried to tell them. I called Banfield to try to cancel my plan and was told I couldn't because I had renewed an annual contract with them. Because of this I will pay out my unused plan for a few more months, and then I'll be free. But I still got the long speech from them about how I needed to give them one more chance and speak with the hospital administrator. Alot of good that did me the first time - I refuse to waste more time just being lied to. Stay away and find a vet who actually knows what they're doing. This place has some caring vets, but I get the feeling they aren't as well-trained as they could be.

After relocating to the area a couple years ago, I've been taking my two dogs to this Banfield location in Gainesville, VA. Although some doctors have come and gone, we're happy to see that our *favorite* vet - Dr. Mesfin - is still.with the practice:) We have a special-needs dog with a long list of health issues - he requires extra attention/medications. Dr. Mesfin always takes the time to listen to our concerns and answer all our questions. We never get the feeling he's in a rush and we can tell that he sincerely cares about our pets and his profession. We highly recommend Dr. Mesfin at Banfield Gainesville, VA!

I highly recommend this clinic and new vet Dr.Dasari. He is very knowledgeable, patient with good bed side manner . He performed an emergency pyometra surgery on my sick Mirtle as she was not eating, vomiting for 2 wks and saved her life by going an extra mile by performing surgery by himself not referring her to a specialist .The recovery was perfect along with great bed side manner . It is worth every penny for your pets care and rest is assured in his and rest of the staffs' care .

I highly recommend this Banfiled location and my dog really loves to see the vet Dr.Dasari, he also loves my pet and he is very knowledgeable , passionate and honest with his treatment plans for what P needs and he never tried to order battery of tests to hurt my wallet . He saved my dog-Wolfie by removing three big pieces of part of couch cover from his stomach, intestines and it took about 4 hours to finish his surgery and he stayed until 10 PM that night , which I think a heck of customer service . His diagnosis was spot on since we were not sure what could have caused my dog to loose 10 pounds in 2wks, so dehydrated, vomiting a lot when we came back vacation and he is 10 yrs old and he is not a puppy to chew things up . I am very pleased with skills, expertise and overall services provided by this location and if it were for Dr.Dasari , my pet would have probably not alive today . So, take my word for this vet for all your pets needs .

THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY! I took my sick cat to Banfield Pet Hospital to see what's wrong with him, they told me he had a high fever and that they should do 2 types of tests on him to see what's wrong. I paid about $300 just to get a "We don't know" answer! The vet kept on saying "I assume" or " I don't know for sure". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I can take my sick cat to my neighbor or a stranger and get the same answer for FREE! The vet did not even give my cat a medicine or anything to help with his sickness or pain! I left my home not knowing what's wrong with my cat, and came back home minus $300 still not knowing what's wrong with my cat!
