Dr. Lori has been helping our pets since before she opened Shady Grove. Over the years she has become as much a part of our family as our small friends. Through several generations of dogs and cats she has always been compassionate, competent and professional. When our pets are young she helps us get them off to a good start, and when their time grows short she shows us how best to deal with the issues that arise with age. Whe the inevitable arrives she is gentle, compassionate and supportive. It is obvious that she loves our friends as much as we do. When Lori is unavailable we have complete confidence in the other doctors and the clinic staff. Each individual at Shady Grove is every bit as dedicated to the health and welfare of our pets as are we. You could make no better choice for your companions. We are truly blessed to have this clinic.

I would reccomend these vets to anyone. My cat had gone to a "Cat Hospital" before and left with an outrageous bill and "Caution - Will Bite" stickers all over her file. At Shady Grove all the vets and staff are wonderful, their rates are reasonable and my cat is her normal sweet self. I have since gotten a dog and they take wonderful care of her as well. I just can't say enough good things about Shady Grove!!!

I can't say enough good things. My wife and I moved to Richmond last fall, and our dog (4-yr old hound mutt) had her first visit in December of 2010, for a routine 6-month exam. Dr. Lucas was great. Very knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. The clinic is clean and very well-maintained. Since December, we have had 2 "emergency" situations where our dog was very VERY sick with diarrhea and vomiting. The first incident was on a Saturday, and even though they schedule Saturday appointments months in advance, they squeezed us in, diagnosed our dog, and she recovered quickly. We saw Dr. Elliott, who, just like Dr. Lucas, was extremely professional and made us feel like our poor sick puppy was in good hands. Most recently, our dog was ill again (most likely from picking up goose droppings), and Shady Grove squeezed us in after hours! Like I said, I cannot say enough good things about the clinic and the vets who work there.

Shady Grove has given me the best service for my pets in Richmond by far! Dr. Lucas is friendly, knowledgeable and shows true compassion and caring for the animals he tends to. Our dog Leroy LOVES him as well as the entire staff there. We know that he is in good hands, which gives us relief since Leroy is basically our 80+ pound baby. They always fit us in for emergencies and keep us updated when Leroy is due back for his future appointments.
