Very friendly and straight forward. They don't beat around the bush or talk over your head or try to sale you things just to be getting money or price gauge you. Our dog had a very bad break in her hind femur. Our regular vet doesn't do orthopaedics so they called around getting prices of how much surgery was going to cost us. Most places wanted $1,500-2,000, which we did not have! Someone commented to try Loveshop Vet Clinic. Dr. Will is good and he isn't trying to gauge anyone, just pay the bills to run the clinic and get supplies. He charged $325 for her surgery! He also said that because of how bad of a break she had, he did his best but wasn't sure the pin would hold the bones together to heal and recommended we take the leg if it didn't heal. He did such a good job though, she is getting her pin out today and has been putting full weight on her leg for a month now! We are very very pleased with him!
We have trusted Loveshop with the care of our dogs for several years now. Our dogs have all gotten their shots and spay/neutering here. One dog accidentally ripped open 5'' of his abdomen and Dr. Will stitched it up and gave us antibiotics/ointment for only $60, and when we brought the dog back for a checkup he didn't charge us at all. Six puppies cost $140 total to get four-way vaccinations and a kennel cough preventative for everyone. One of our dogs went to the Halifax vet instead and we were charged about 4x more there. Halifax had to anesthetize our dog to manually check his wrist, only to find he had arthritis (which we knew he did.) Halifax treated our elderly cat that had to be euthanized very disrespectfully. They were better the next time, when we had to euthanize our 17 yr old chihuahua due to cancer, but they still didn't seem to have any empathy for the animal. At least the second time Halifax put the body in a box instead of handing it to us in a black trash bag... The difference between Loveshop and Halifax is money. Dr. Will of Loveshop does everything at a fair price, but he is a quiet man without a smile on his face so I guess people feel he's unwelcoming. He is good enough at what he does and I trust him wholly. However, if you need a life-or-death intense surgery I would probably go elsewhere than Loveshop, but use Loveshop for all routine vaccines, spay/neuter, and other small concerns. Halifax clinic is brightly lit, welcoming, spacious and very very clean, but you pay for all that excess. The only downside about Loveshop is that our dogs have sometimes obtained kennel cough from the visit. They can give you a cheap preventative if you ask (just a quick dose of liquid in the nose) and your dog will stay healthy. I do recommend Loveshop if you are tight on funds but need basic care for your animals.
When my beagle was diagnosed with heartworms at age 8, the first vet we went to told me my options were to pay $600+ for hospitalization, after which she would need to be crated for 6 weeks (something I would not even consider changing on her in her old age), or euthanize her. They told me medication would kill her. I took her to Dr. Will for a second opinion. He pulled out his veterinary books from when he was in school and read me about the medication the first vet warned against and started her on it. She is 11 now and happy and healthy as can be. We have spent less on ALL of her veterinary care combined in the last three years than what the other vet said was necessary to keep her alive.
This is not one of those vets that charges all these ridiculous office visit fees and runs unnecessary tests. I have been going to Dr. Will for years and have brought all of my animals there and have been impressed with the quality of service, especially for the prices he charges. Bypass all other vets and drive up to Loveshop, it is worth it.
this vet butchered my dog!! he went in to be "fixed" and came out spewing blood EVERYWHERE!!! had to rush him to a different vets office on an emergency!! where they ended up having to put in EIGHT (8) staples!!! NEVER TAKE YOUR PETS THERE!!!
