Aug 11, 2014 by jcapwill22 When looking for a vet for my new puppy I will admit I was pretty tough on who I would go to.There were a lot of veterinarians to choose from and I did my homework. The one that I choose was Armistead Ave Veterinary. They have been wonderful. The minute you arrive you are made to feel welcome, you and your pet are warmly greeted and within a short time you are meeting with a doctor. The facillity is very clean and constantly maintained should a pet have an accident. The doctors really educated you as to what steps/maintenance you should focus on and how to maintain your pets maximum health to ensure a long healthy life. For convenience they provide a pet day care & boarding next to the veterinary hospital. It also is very clean and the pets are monitored and socialized with to ensure they do not miss their owners too much. I would recommend the veterinary hospital & boarding facilities to my family & friends.
The office staff is very nice and for a walk in vet you get seen relatively quickly. A bit pricey, like any vet office. If I lived closer I would just go to the SPCA vet in Norfolk. Also, like almost every vet I've met, the vets there tend to talk to me like I'm an idiot. I hate that. But as far as actually treating your dogs, they're amazing. The only people my dog will let clip her nails.
The vet mixed up my dog’s two prescriptions so neither her ear inflammation or her skin irritation were getting better. After a few days of no change in her I researched her medication online and realized that the vets had made an error. When we went in with the medication to ask what had happened, they left us sitting there waiting and waiting while all of the doctors ‘consulted’ with one another. They realized they had made a mistake but were too arrogant to admit it. Instead they said “we can try switching them around but they can be used for either” (Too bad they actually can't). Had they simply been willing to admit they were wrong and apologized the situation may have been different. Instead, we’re having all of the records mailed to us and we will be taking our pets elsewhere from now on.
Awesome! Got called back before we even finished our paperwork. In and out in less than an hour, very nice and polite staff. Would absolutely return.
I got to the office with my cat at 2:00 and was there until 3:00 and didn't see the vet until 2:40, at the earliest. The bill was $90 for the office visit, one shot, and includes $4 for the "biomedical waste disposal" which I found a bit pricey. An elderly lady who got there the same time I did left when I did and didn't even get to see the vet. I will be looking for someplace else for the next visit.
