DR Nelson loves animal and is one of the most caring people you would ever meet. There are none better.
I spent over two years working for Dr. Nelson while earning my undergrad degree. He is the reason I am now headed to veterinary school. Really a super doctor, and everything written in the previous article is absolutely accurate. Sure he's a little rough around the edges, but I've seen him make ENORMOUS sacrifices to help our families with little to no financial resources so that they might be able to save the lives of their beloved pets. It will be a sad day when Dr. Nelson retires from veterinary medicine.
Dr. Nelson's has seen all of my family's animals since I was little. My husband and myself now take our all dogs to him. He doesn't make you spend unnecessary money and will be upfront and honest with you about the cost of something and whether it's really going to make a difference. Our new adopted baby had a horrible itching problem and had scratched off 40% of his fur in about the 1st 3 weeks we had him. So we went to Dr. Nelson and he explained several things that it could be, food allergies, scarcoptic mange, outdoor allergies, so we tried a prednisone shot to no avail, and returned the next week with the poor baby still itching. Long story short, after our initial visit we were only charged for his shots for mange. I would never go to any other vet.
He was awful!! I just got back from my first and last trip there! I read these reviews and was thinking that there is only one bad review so hopefully this can be our new vet. I took my 5 month old kitten there because he has been sneezing a lot. The doc was distant, cold, and was very rough with how he handled my kitten. Maybe its that all of these reviews are based on dogs and he is good with big dogs but he was awful with my kitten. Twice he threw him down on the table forcibly. He made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I am more worried about my kitten's health now after having him jam a needle in his back and shove a dropper down his throat than I was going into i.
Took our dog in after feeling a little burned by the more pricey vets... our dog had a wound in between her paw pads...he prescribed some meds, but kept the visit and the meds to what would have cost us double at other places. The doctor, admittedly at first, was a little rough around the edges as far as bed side manor goes, but he genuinely cares about the animals and works to ensure you are able to get your loved one back to full health, without costing an arm/leg. Great experience.
