My Chihuahua has been with Banfield in Newport News, VA for 2 years and I am extremely satisfied with them and their Wellness Plan. The staff there is very helpful and caring. They always call me with appointment reminders the day before as well as a follow up call the day after to confirm that all is well. The convenience and savings of their monthly payment plan is greatly appreciated. I'm glad I read about their services online and went in to see for myself. I don't know what actually happened to these other reviewers that left them with a bad impression but what they describe has never been a part of our experience. I would recommend Banfield Pet and their Wellness plans to friends and family.
Banfield is another big company that keeps no records, so that you have to coordinate with there headquarters building, instead of the hospital you deal with regularly. They do not notify you of mandatory appointments(heartworm test) so that you drive all the way there for nothing. Had them for less then a year, I am finally switching to a new vet.
I have no complaints about the service at Banfield. My cats have been seen here for about 7 years and there has only been one vet who I didn't like, but I only saw him once. Dr. Acosta was wonderful but he's gone to Puerto Rico now. My cats have always been seen quickly and all employees have been courteous.
Just called after searching on Google as I'm new to the area, and nothing seems to be open in Newport News. I spoke with "Heather," who informed me that they won't take new pets until august, okay that's fine. I explained my cat really isn't well I need to get him to a vet immediately, did she know where I could try. "You need to look it up on Google, there's 500+ vets in the area, you figure it out." Right. Now I know I won't be using this vet ever due to that kind of attitude, but I don't have to worry about that either, because now my cat is dead. Thanks for the great start to my day Banfield.
Evidently no one keeps records at this facility. Each time I go in, even though my dogs have been going to the same location for the last two years, they hand me a stack of paperwork to fill out that asks the same routine questions. They've also gotten really good at adding fees that aren't covered on their wellness plans. I had to bring my dogs back for a follow-up appointment, as recommended by their veterinarian, and they charged me $15 per dog for "doggie day care." Their veterinarians change constantly, the staff is lackadaisical, and they seem much more interested in collecting fees than in providing quality pet care. I'm seriously considering dropping Banfield all together once their yearly wellness plans expire, and will definitely be changing their hospital for the duration.
