We boarded our puppy for a few nights here and will never use this vet or boarding service again. Before dropping her off, I filled out paperwork explicitly stating that she would be eating her own food, opposed to the kennel's, along with how many times a day she is fed. When we arrived, I provided premeasured bags with labeled days and times on them. After picking her up, I saw that only half the food was used, so our 11 month old dog was either given half the amount of food she should eat a day, or was fed half of the vet's food. When I asked the receptionist why it looked like she hadn't been fed, she said, "I don't know, I never go back there." We could see her ribs, she was incredibly thirsty, and had a huge scab/rash on the back of her ear. The VCA website says "Both morning and evening meals consist of a high quality diet recommended by our veterinarians. We will accommodate special diets and special feeding regimens upon request. We provide all the essential creature comforts for your pet including, bedding, bowls, toys and treats." However, the staff here neglected to feed our dog - the bare minimum amount of care I would expect to get for $176 - and none of the toys, treats, or blankets we brought were given to her. There is also a required shot your dog needs to stay here that 4 of our previous vets didn't recommend or mention (dog influenza vaccine). This is not listed on the website and we were not told until we dropped her off that she needed this. This facility is overpriced and unconcerned with how your pet is treated.
I have been taking my little dog Fluffy here since I adopted him. He is my first dog, and from the first moments, the employees and medical staff have been so helpful and knowledgeable- from all the beginner questions, to getting him on healthy food and a vaccine schedule. I always feel and know my dog is in great hands, and continue to recommend VCA Boulevard to my family and friends! Thank you!
We have been taking our various furry babies here for over 20 years, and have seen a number of veterinarians here thoughout the years. We have found the vets and staff here to be very kind and efficient. Dr. Edwards, in particular, is just wonderful! An excellent veterinary practice!
I wrote a very bad review for vca animal hospital in Newport news, va. and not surprisingly, I think someone removed it. They only want the good reviews to show because the other review, the fourth one was also a bad review. I know someone who worked there so I know the lowdown of how they treat their employees and a corporation who treats their employees like subhumans can not be trusted with the very innocent and vulnerable. Management has a screw loose and they need to just go out of business.
