The vet almost killed one of my dogs by prescribing twice as much medicine as her weight would allow. I could not get a return phone call from the owner, Dr. Pickett and I called at least 4 times. I called corporate and still no return phone call. Users beware!

I took my dog in for an emergency visit. After being told I could walk in, I got there at 12:00 pm and was told to come back at 2pm because the doctor was on a conference call. I decided to stay because me dog was in pain which was of no concern to them. 2PM rolls around and no one comes to get the dog, I saw two people go back with their dogs and no acknolwledgement of me. I got fed up and asked what was going on and the look on the person's face was as though they forgot about us even though we were sitting there. Finally, the doctor sees my dog and the nurse comes out with an estimate of 988.00 to express the anal sacs which takes seconds to do. I advised that was a bit steep and looked closely at the charges. They wanted to groom my dog, give her a pedicure, all sorts of shots I did not request, etc.etc. I told them i could only afford from 200-300 bucks. The nurse comes back out after to relaying this to the doc and they advised they could do everything for, take a wild guess..... 299.00!!! I said just do it. When I finally come back after 30 minutes, I was charged 367.00 because my dog's heart beat was faint...BS. They wanted to get more moneyand did not want to wait for her to awake on her own because the store was closing. On top of the 367.00, I have to pay 45 additional dollars to have the stitches removed. I will never do business with them nor petsmart again. This was the worst experience. They take advantage of people, because they love their animals. It's a sad, sad world we live in.

If I could give them a "O" I would. Worst experience I ever had at a vet. My first time visiting a Banfield and I will tell you I will never go there again. Wish I read the reviews before I went. I had an appointment and was taken back to the exam room. The vet assistant came in and seemed very scared of my dog. She even asked if she would bite. I told her she has never bitten anyone but she still was scared. She went back in the back and came back 5 minutes later and said she was going to take my dog in the back to start the exam. I never heard of this before and I said I would go back with her. She told me no that she would be right back. 2 1/2 hours later I saw my dog. They ended up doing blood work and some kind of pancreas test. Mind you I came into the clinic for a general check up. Over $300.00+ and 2 1/2 hours later I saw my dog. Now I'm not a vet but does it take 2 1/2 hours to do blood work????. When they brought my dog out she was clearly stressed and had the worst oder about her. I found out from another vet that she was put to sleep. THEY DID NOT HAVE CONSENT TO DO THIS. I am writing so this clinic will be shut down. I have contacted Banfield's corporate office but they don't seem to care either. DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMALS TO THIS CLINIC.

If I had listened to the "Vet" at Banfield, I would have completed 2 unnecessary knee operations on my perfectly healthy Jack Russell. Thank God I had the wisdom to get a second opinion. I saved myself $6000 dollars and pain and suffering for my pup.

This Banfield facility (Carmia Way, Richmond, VA) tries to get money out of pet owners any way that is possible. Despite paying a monthly rate for my dog's puppy wellness plan, EVERY TIME I bring him in for a check up I find myself spending at least $100 for things that are questionably "medically necessary." What's the point of paying monthly for a wellness plan, if it doesn't cover any of the things that are deemed "medically necessary." It was determined that my dog had an ear infection, so we were charged for the initial test that determined he had an infection then for prescriptions. At his next check up, we were then charged again for subsequent tests that determined that the prescription worked in addition to the monthly rate. The receptionists are not welcoming, rude at times and often very non-attentive to customers. The doctor has even asked me to restrain my pet while administering vaccinations in the absence of his aide. It baffles me how they can charge so many fees, but are not providing quality customer service. One of my pets was previously a patient at the Banfield in Newport News, VA where the service and people were great. There service was superior and there were very few fees outside of the monthly rate. I am going to try a local vet because I am completely disappointed with the service and fees I encountered with this facility. Every time my pet has an appt, I know they will have a new method of scheming for more money. If you want quality and affordable veterinary care, then this specific location is NOT for you! It seems as though they are more concerned with profit or financial gain than actually genuinely caring for pets.
